General Description

The VP of Sales is responsible for managing the sales and marketing of all products across several product platforms, distribution channels, management, development, and deployment of sales personnel for the organization. This person will be responsible for the development of the strategic sales plans based on company goals that will promote sales growth and customer satisfaction for the organization. The candidate must have proven sales experience, strong marketing acumen, with multiple years' experience managing a high performing sales staff across diverse food ingredient platforms. The successful candidate will drive the company's achievement of customer acquisition and continued success in revenue goals.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage a high performing sales and business development organization in a manner that meets company strategic growth goals across multiple food ingredient platforms.
  • Establish and maintain key customer relationships and develop and implement new, innovative and creative marketing strategies for expanding customer base.
  • Identifies and leads the pursuit of the targeted new business and contract expansion opportunities within target accounts.
  • Leverages a client-diagnostic sales strategy and consultative approach to uncover client specific issues and/or opportunities.
  • Researches and identifies market changes in food ingredient industry, working with senior management to ensure strategic growth is maintained through new product development, offerings to meet those changes.
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting, and compile information and data related to our customer base.
  • In collaboration with the Marketing Director at Universal Ingredients, maintain a high level of expertise in the market by continuously analyzing trends as well as the company's competition.
  • Develop focused sales strategies to ensure Company is investing sales time in areas with the greatest opportunities and payback both in overall sales growth as well as gross margin.
  • Flexibility and willingness to accommodate extensive travel, both international and domestic, with a minimum 33+% of the time is required.
  • Develop and oversee marketing communications, including branding, advertising, trade shows, seminars and events, web design and content.


Work Experience and Personal Skill Requirements
  • 8+ years Sales and/or Business Development experience in the food ingredient industry.
  • Ability to plan and manage at strategic and operational levels.
  • Experience in the development of departmental staff where training, mentoring, or educational opportunities have resulted in their successful acquisition of growth opportunities within the organization.
  • Exceptional track record (in food and beverage ingredients) of developing and implementing marketing and sales strategies that have consistently met or exceeded planned objectives.
  • Proven ability to quickly build business expertise and drive multiple initiatives/deliverables to successful completion.
  • Demonstrated ability, experience in managing several sales staff representatives, providing an environment for successful achievement of company sales goals
  • Superior written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Drive to deliver value to clients and to help shape and build a fast-paced, growing organization.


Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field of study preferred.
