Reports to - Chief Commercial Officer

SIP is comprised of a team of highly seasoned beverage professionals with expertise spanning from branding to package design, procurement to production, sales and marketing, finance to compliance. We have a dedicated national sales team and brand ambassadors that connect with our brand's consumers. We partner with the world's preeminent distributor of beverage alcohol, Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits.

This role will oversee sales for the West, including regional chain retail customers. In addition to driving sales for all brands in SIP portfolio, the role will be overseeing programming, sales execution, budget management, as well ensuring brands are on price strategy. This person must also have strong leadership skills and the ability to recruit and develop top talent.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute regional sales strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
Analyze market trends, identify opportunities for growth, and provide insights to inform decision-making.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, operations, finance) to align go-to-market strategies.

Sales Management
Drive revenue growth by meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with distributors, key accounts, and other stakeholders.
Oversee pricing strategies and promotional planning to maximize profitability.
Communicate with CCO and CMO to assist, manage and coordinate marketing programs and sales execution to achieve sales objectives in specified territory.
Utilize top-to-top relationships at distributors and key chain accounts to drive brand growth and generate new opportunities.
Build program calendars and pricing structures for each brand/market in conjunction with team and distributor to maximize revenue growth.
Forecast yearly, quarterly, and monthly goals by market and sku
Maintain adequate inventory levels at distributor with minimum of 45 days
Ensure shelf prices match strategy while always being mindful of competitive brands pricing and market conditions.
Take the lead role in negotiation and placement of SIP brands in key retail chains.
Analyze current market conditions, distribution gaps, and competitors and develop plans and programming to address.
Conduct detailed quarterly reviews that result in alignment between Distributor / brand(s) on what actions need to be taken to hit or exceed goals.

Team Leadership
Recruit, lead, and mentor a regional sales team, fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
Maintain clear objectives, monitor progress, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
Develop and implement training programs to enhance the team's knowledge of products, sales techniques, and compliance requirements.

Personal Skills and Qualities
  • Results oriented: Strong work ethic and drive for success
  • Knows the key people at our distributor network to achieve desired results
  • Relationships with key retailers in the state
  • 10+ years of Distributor and/or spirits supplier experience, including with chains, and on premise
    • Preferably based in California (LA or SF area)
    • Strong relationships with SGWS preferred
    • Experience with chains and national accounts required
    • Experience selling bourbon preferred
  • Budget management and resource utilization
  • Teamwork: Ability to work and communicate productively with colleagues and customers - help bridge the gap between sales and marketing
  • Excellent oral and written communication and persuasion skills
  • Able to work with Word, Power point, Excel, VIP, KARMA, distributor reporting systems, etc
  • A sense of positive urgency in executing everyday responsibilities
  • Willingness to "roll sleeves up" and work the streets!
  • Position requires regular travel across the region to support team, distributors, customers, and business priorities, at least 50%
