Job Summary

The Vice President, Children's Services Finance (VP) is a core member of the UCSF Health Children's Services leadership team, which reviews and shapes Children's Services policies, aligning strategic priorities with System goals and objectives, and adjudicating complex and large-scale issues that the Children's Services faces. Under the direction of the SVP Children's Services, the Vice President, Children's Services Finance is responsible for the financial management of the Children's Services. The VP has responsibility for: financial planning; capital planning; budgeting, accounting, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting, reimbursement, revenue cycle, financing and design and operation of internal control systems. As a member of the senior management team, the VP participates in the formation, communication and implementation of strategic plans and institutional policy, and will also assume the leadership role for key initiatives that cross departmental lines. The VP serves as one of the executives that negotiates with outside third-parties on the Children's Services behalf, and is the designated reviewer of significant finance transactions.

Brings clinical research and philanthropic service capabilities into a unified management structure and single operating unit, achieving strategic, operational and financial alignment between UCSF BCH Oakland, UCSF BCH San Francisco, Bay Children's Physicians, and the School of Medicine. Streamlines decision making, strengthens the ability to act with one voice, and ensures accountability at every point to execute collectively agreed upon commitment to excellence and efficiency. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The anticipated salary for this position is $500,000 - $550,000 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or finance-related field.
  • Master's degree or CPA required.
  • An advanced degree in finance, business administration or health care administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years of senior level health care financial management experience.
  • Broad experience with a variety of health care institutions, and with issues outside of finance.
  • Knowledge of managed care contracting and capitation.
  • Experience negotiating contracts and transactions.
  • Knowledge of financial planning and health care financing.
  • Experience managing Health System Operating Budget.


Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA preferred
  • Experience with Children's Health System preferred.
