Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Watershed Technical Manager for our office in Gulfport, MS!

The Watershed Technical Manager will provide quality planning, design and technical assistance to Discipline Manager and other members of design team in delivering projects within budgetary and time constraints.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include

1. Provides leadership, guidance, and mentoring to engineering staff in the planning, design and implementation of watershed and stormwater infrastructure.

2. Develops technical scope of work, budget, and schedule associated with the projects in this discipline.

3. Leads the development of watershed-based protection and restoration plans to characterize, quantify, prioritize, and implement water resource projects.

4. Leads engineering analyses and evaluations (primarily computer-based) in support of the planning and design of civil works projects.

5. Conducts assessment and evaluation of existing conditions and develops recommended remedial measures.

6. Maintains and documents written and verbal communications with clients throughout the development and completion of a project.

7. Conducts project status review with project manager and team members, checking accuracy of work completed, and monitors timeliness of project completion.

8. Guides the project team in the application of sound engineering principles, engineering software and tools.

9. Guides the project team in preparation of engineering studies, reports, contract documents, and technical specifications.

10. Serves in a lead role on the project team in assuring quality control procedures are performed.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibility for a technical team that might include engineers, designers/technicians, and/or watershed planners.

Work Environment
This job generally operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. May require long hours and some weekend work.

Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some projects may require more out-of-the-area and overnight travel.

What you'll need

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in water resources or civil/environmental engineering, watershed planning, environmental science or related field.

Required Licensures and Certifications
Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE); (if not licensed in Mississippi, the ability to do so within six months).
Licensure or ability to obtain licensure as a PE in other states where Waggoner practices, within a reasonable timeframe.
Certifications applicable to civil engineering, hydrology and hydraulics desired (e.g. CPESC, CFM).

Required Experience
Ten years of professional engineering experience in the planning, design, and implementation of stormwater infrastructure.
Knowledge of and experience in watershed-based planning, modeling analysis and design; stormwater management, including BMPs design, Green Infrastructure (GI) and Low Impact Development (LID); stream, wetland, and coastal restoration; hydrological and hydraulic analysis including channel design, floodplain analysis, and scour analysis is preferred.
Experience in hydraulic, hydrologic and water quality modeling; training and experience in geomorphology/natural channel design is highly desirable.
Experience with specifying erosion, sediment, and stormwater control measures and construction observation highly desirable.
Experience in environmental permitting and the development and review of environmental impact statements and assessments is preferred.

Other Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of engineering and the implementation of public works infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in software commonly used in engineering analysis and design, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, and/or ESRI products.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
Superior communication skills and in-depth knowledge of company products and operations.
