Job Description
We currently have an opening for an Intermediate Wildlife Biologist in our Calgary office. We are looking for a dynamic individual with an entrepreneurial spirit, who is ready to take that next step in their career. If you enjoy working with multi-disciplinary technical teams, having input into the growth and direction of a team, and have demonstrated capabilities in leading environmental assessments and assessing terrestrial ecosystems, then we want to hear from you
Responsibilities include the following:
- Developing and implementing field inventory programs (e.g., vegetation, wildlife, habitat characterization) and evaluating impacts on terrestrial ecosystem values.
- Managing projects, leading project teams and responding to client requests.
- Leading and completing environmental assessments, including impact assessments, environmental evaluations, environmental risk assessments and navigating regulatory approval processes.
- Contributing to oversight, mentorship and coordination of staff in the Calgary office.
- Preparing technical reports, proposals and design briefs.
- Preparing and delivering presentations on project outcomes internally and / or to clients and regulators.
- Collaborating with a dynamic team of environmental scientists and engineers.
Job Requirements
What you will bring to the table:
- Undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) in a relevant pure or applied science.
- 5+ years of consulting experience specific to managing multi-disciplinary projects.
- Professional registration or eligibility for registration (e.g. P.Ag., P.Biol.).
- Working knowledge of the provincial regulatory system related to wildlife and species inventories.
- Strong wildlife identification skills, with a focus on bird identification (visual and auditory).
- Experience with invertebrate, amphibian, mammal, and species at risk surveys considered an asset.
- GIS capabilities are considered an asset.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines within a team environment.
- Ability to manage diverse projects and budgets.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and provide supervisory support to other team members.
- Ability to travel for short periods of time.
- Valid driver's license.
