Typical Day in the Role
Purpose of the Team: This team is responsible for the low voltage harness schematic design which is essentially defining the endpoints of the of the circuits where everything should go. They also focus on inputs, outputs, variant management and generating complexity for particular harnesses.
Key projects: This role will contribute to Mid-size/ Core activity - the technical specialist will be cleaning up the current component library and also defining the connection strategy for Lucid.

We are currently seeking a Staff Wire Harness Component Engineer. This position requires an experienced professional to work with hardware engineering teams and suppliers to define requirements for our LV harness components, including connectors, terminals, seals, grommets, plastic parts, etc. You will also be working with the architecture team and supply chain on defining the Lucid LV interconnect strategy. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

Role

Work with hardware engineering teams and suppliers to define harness component requirements.

Create and maintain harness component library for connectors, terminals, seals, clips, coverings, etc.

Work with mechanical engineering teams on solving package issues and finalizing connector selection.

Work with suppliers on custom component development.

Report and escalate issues as appropriate and participate in triaging of issues with different teams and harness suppliers.

Participate in the design of a world class engineering effort to bring electric vehicles to a new level of refinement.

Qualifications

10+ years of automotive experience

Proven knowledge in vehicle harness development

Proven experience with harness tools such as Capital, Zuken, Catia Electrical, or others.

Detailed knowledge of relevant format such as kbl, xml and others

Harness packaging experience

Harness manufacturing experience

Deep understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.

In depth knowledge of existing automotive standards such as USCAR, LV214, etc.

Knowledge of high speed data interfaces as automotive ethernet, coax, USB, and LVDS.

Ability to travel to suppliers for working meetings and first article inspection.

Ability to travel to the US to support meetings and builds.

Advantageous

Ability to build stuff with your hands

Knowledge of existing harnessing and interconnect strategies for various OEMs.

Knowledge of emerging harness technologies and industry trends.
