The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function is responsible for providing Senior Executive Management strategic analysis of the Firm's global businesses, the annual operating plan, and various related financial information including actual to plan analysis to be utilized in strategic decision-making. The role will help drive financial discipline across the organization, using management reporting and analysis. The position will require cross-functional work and relationship building across various areas of the firm. The Associate position within the FP&A function will provides a unique opportunity to obtain detailed knowledge and related expertise of the most significant aspects of the Wealth Management business segments.
The Wealth Management Financial Planning & Analysis position will have a central focus on Expense Management Reporting and analysis.
Responsibilities Include:
- Monthly reporting of expenses for the Wealth Management (WM) segment of Morgan Stanley including in-depth analysis of period over period drivers and measurement of performance against established forecasts.
- Involved in Multi-year projections of Compensation costs for WM segment as part of the Comprehensive Capital Analysis & Review (CCAR) process- involved in operation of WM Compensation Model. CCAR is an annual exercise by the Federal Reserve to assess whether the largest bank holding companies operating in the United States have sufficient capital to continue operations throughout times of economic and financial stress and that they have robust, forward-looking capital-planning processes that account for their unique risks.
- Involved in quarterly due diligence analytics used to update the firm's CFO on Wealth Management's expense spend.
- Perform detailed expense analysis and identify/resolve unusual variances and issues. Work closely with Business Finance areas.
- Ad Hoc: Projects and queries as raised by senior Finance and Business Unit Skills Required:
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organized to meet all deliverables
- 5+ year experience preferred
Skills Desired:
- Working knowledge of TM1 preferred

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000.00 and $155,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
