Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP)

Reports to the Chief Medical Officer

Background: Cahaba Medical Care Foundation is a community health center organization providing medical, pharmacy, dental, and behavioral health services to diverse underserved communities in Jefferson, Bibb, Perry, and Chilton counties. We are a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home and Joint Commission accredited organization, committed to increasing integration and coordination of behavioral health and primary care. Purpose: The WHNP will be responsible for providing comprehensive care, including preventive health screenings, family planning, and managing gynecological and reproductive health conditions.

Principle Responsibilities:
  • Provide well-woman exams, including breast exams, pelvic exams, and Pap smears.
  • Offer prenatal and postpartum care, ensuring the health and well-being of mothers and babies.
  • Manage common gynecological conditions such as abnormal Pap smears, menstrual disorders, and urinary incontinence.
  • Provide family planning services, including contraception counseling and management.
  • Offer counseling and management of menopause and perimenopause symptoms.
  • Conduct screenings for breast, cervical, and other gynecological cancers.
  • Provide education on preventive healthcare practices, healthy lifestyle choices, and wellness.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including OB/GYNs, to ensure continuity of care.


Qualifications:
  • Current Nurse Practitioner (NP) License in Alabama.
  • Certification as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in women's health or related clinical settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of women's health issues across the lifespan, including reproductive health, menopause, and gynecological conditions.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to educate and empower patients to make informed healthcare decisions.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a community health setting.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to provide culturally competent care to a diverse patient population.
