Purpose: The WHNP will be responsible for providing comprehensive care, including preventive health screenings, family planning, and managing gynecological and reproductive health conditions.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Provide well-woman exams, including breast exams, pelvic exams, and Pap smears.
- Offer prenatal and postpartum care, ensuring the health and well-being of mothers and babies.
- Manage common gynecological conditions such as abnormal Pap smears, menstrual disorders, and urinary incontinence.
- Provide family planning services, including contraception counseling and management.
- Offer counseling and management of menopause and perimenopause symptoms.
- Conduct screenings for breast, cervical, and other gynecological cancers.
- Provide education on preventive healthcare practices, healthy lifestyle choices, and wellness.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including OB/GYNs, to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications:
- Current Nurse Practitioner (NP) License in Alabama.
- Certification as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP).
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in women's health or related clinical settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of women's health issues across the lifespan, including reproductive health, menopause, and gynecological conditions.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to educate and empower patients to make informed healthcare decisions.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a community health setting.
- Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Ability to provide culturally competent care to a diverse patient population.
