The agency serves low-income families and individuals in the County of San Diego in two (2) strategic areas with a high-density population of Filipinos/Asians and other low-income, uninsured individuals - National City (Southern San Diego County) and Mira Mesa (North Central San Diego).
JOB PURPOSE
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, performs direct patient care services. Performs selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks. Provides the full scope of primary care services, including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care, and health maintenance to patients. The Nurse Practitioner is familiar with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Center and works collaboratively to achieve them. The Nurse Practitioner must be cognizant of and comply with all Center policies and procedures and pertinent state and federal regulations.

The Nurse Practitioner must be cognizant of and comply with all Center policies and procedures and pertinent state and federal regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sees an average of 20 patients per day.
- Treat age groups from adolescents to elderly, pre- to post-menopausal women.
- Perform comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic medical and social histories.
- Conduct physical exams.
- Conduct STD screening and treatment.
- Perform annual pap smears.
- Perform contraceptive care, including procedures such as IUD and Nexplanon insertion and removal.
- Provide prenatal care from initial visit through pregnancy and postpartum.
- Diagnose and treat gynecologic conditions, such as infection, menstrual disorders, and hormonal imbalances.
- Educate patients on reproductive health, pregnancy, and gynecologic conditions.
- Counsel patients regarding healthy lifestyles.
- Initiate referrals to high-risk units and other specialties as appropriate.
- Order and interpret laboratory and imaging tests.
- Counsel patients regarding infertility work-ups and treatments.
- Collaborate with physicians regarding patient care.
Customer Relations
- Maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients and the public.
- Be a team player and cooperate in accomplishing department goals and objectives.
HIPPA/Compliance
- Maintain privacy of all patients, employees, and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes.
- Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations. Report unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful behavior or activity.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Active license as Nurse Practitioner in the state of California with certification in Women's Health.
- At least 2 years of experience as an OB-GYN Nurse Practitioner.
- Valid DEA License required.
- Must possess current unexpired BLS certification.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills delivering culturally sensitive, and patient centered care.
- Passion for caring for the underserved population.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and without direct supervision.
- Computer and EMR proficient.
Annual Requirements, Licensures, and Certifications
- Have reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and car insurance as required by the state.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
