Duties & Responsibilities: The Workday Functional Payroll Lead will be an important part of the Workday Payroll Implementation team. Specific responsibilities working Payroll staff to make key payroll design decisions so that the systems functions according to best practices and is designed for success as additional Workday modules are added. To date our client has implemented the Workday HCM model and in the future will implement Recruiting, Absence Management, Finance and perhaps Student. The Payroll Functional Lead must have a good understanding of University Payroll Systems, be update on State and Federal requirements and able to work with a variety of staff including, but not limited to the Payroll team, the Finance team, the ITS PMO, the ITS ERP Applications team, the ITS Infrastructure team, the Budget Office and others as appropriate.

- Partner closely with end users to identify opportunities for business process improvement and design through better leverage or enhancement of existing Workday business processes
- Serves as SU testing lead and actively participates in all rounds of testing
- Documents test plans/scripts and manages User Acceptance Testing during testing phases
- Contributes to the continuous improvement of Workday through research and implementing best practices
- Collaborate with Training Lead to define course structure, content, and delivery method to produce high quality training
- Participate in integration deployment by working with vendors, internal teams and cross-teams
- Provide post implementation support to optimize user adoption and Workday configuration
- Participate in Workday HCM projects involving strategy, implementation support, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) optimization related to Information Technology (IT) operations, business processes, security, and data integrity for the Workday applications
- Participate in client design, testing and integration processes with external vendors
- Create and support complex Workday payroll calculations and Workday optimization
- Execute the day-to-day activities of Workday advisory engagements, including process design, package implementation lifecycle support, and project reviews
- Review business processes and advise clients on system services available within the Workday application
- Identify and communicate findings to senior management and client personnel

- Three years of enterprise resource planning (ERP), HCM implementation, and upgrade experience
- Completion of one full implementation with Workday HCM; must be Workday certified in HCM and Payroll (Please note that any candidate hired into this position that doesn't currently the aforementioned certification will be required to secure one within three months from the commencement of employment.)
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from an accredited college/university
- Functional Payroll Certification (FPC) from American Payroll Association, Equivalency from global payroll associations or prior demonstrated certification preferred
- Detailed understanding of ERP System concepts and general module functionality
- Ability to travel at moderate to extensive levels
- Colleague experience desired.
