The Senior Project Manager (Workday) will play a primary role managing the planning, execution, monitoring, and communication for the Workday Financials ERP suite implementation project. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Information Officer, the incumbent will partner closely with business stakeholders, Technology staff, and the selected vendor implementation partner to drive the Workday Financials implementation project to a successful conclusion that is on time and on budget. The ideal candidate will possess excellent project management skills, expertise in supporting complex business processes, and strong experience managing the work of an external implementation partner team.
Essential Functions:
Workday Implementation Project Management
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the project to implement Workday Financials.
- In collaboration with stakeholders and senior management, define project scope, goals and deliverables.
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communication strategy.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to internal and external project team members
and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Actively manage key stakeholders and project commitments, escalations, and
communication.
- Estimate resources and participants required to attain project goals within planned timeline.
- Coordinate resource availability between internal and external resources and between technical teams and business offices.
- Manage and regularly report on the project spending against the planned project budget.
- Validate the time spent and work performed by external implementation partner resources and escalate deviations from resource plans.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team, and escalate quickly where appropriate.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path deliverables.
- Plan, schedule and track project timelines and milestones.
- Develop and deliver progress reports.
- Lead regular project reviews with Project Team, and with project stakeholders and senior management to keep the project on track and on budget.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential roadblocks, and devise contingency plans
- Ensure that proper approvals are completed at appropriate project milestones, and ensure adherence to all standard components of the system development lifecycle.
- Identify and manage all risks to project deliverables.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Project Management experience supporting large, complex, enterprise
applications.
- 1+ year of hands on experience with Workday (HCM / Payroll / Finance) preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with ERP products (PeopleSoft, SAP, etc.)
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to understand business processes & requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks.
- Ability to synthesize business issues into technical solutions.
- Detail oriented and familiar with best practices for testing and product lifecycles.
- Excellent relationship building skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Communicates effectively with technical staff and nontechnical staff.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and vendor work.
- Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change.
- PMP certification desirable and knowledge of PMP best practices and standards.
- Familiarity with financial and accounting principles preferred.
- Higher education experience preferred.
