Position Summary
Manage, supervise and coordinate the functions of the Workers' Compensation Program and the Employee Health Center; monitor and ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures and reporting requirements and perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in occupational health administration, business administration, public administration or a related field; and
Six (6) years of professional worker's compensation related experience; and
To include three (3) years of direct supervisory experience in a management or administrative capacity.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a New Mexico Driver's License (Class D), or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid New Mexico Adjuster License within 30 days from date of hire.

- Complex principles of workers compensation claims investigation, evaluation, exposure and reserve setting
- Workers' compensation legislation and liability
- Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations

- Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
- Apply complex principles of workers' compensation claims administration

- Operate office equipment including computers and supporting word process and spreadsheet application
- Prepare clear and concise reports
- Oversee and monitor outside professional legal services
- Represent the City to the public in workers' compensation litigation procedures
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Maintain confidentiality of information
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
