Workers' Compensation Underwriter

Job Title: Workers' Compensation Underwriter
Location: Summit, NJ (in-office)
Salary: $85,000-$95,000/year
Requirements:
1.) Bachelor's degree in Business or Risk Management (or related field) or equivalent work experience.
2.) 3+ years of insurance underwriting experience, specifically in Workers' Compensation.
3.) Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)/Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certifications are preferred, but not required.

Position Overview
The Workers' Compensation Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and managing risks related to Workers' Compensation insurance policies. This role involves assessing applications, analyzing data, and determining coverage terms to ensure profitability and compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate applications for workers' compensation insurance coverage.
• Analyze risk factors and determine appropriate premiums.
• Develop and maintain relationships with agents and brokers.
• Review claims history and loss reports to make informed underwriting decisions.
• Collaborate with the claims department to address underwriting concerns.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation for underwriting decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Risk Management (or a related field) or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years experience in insurance underwriting, specifically in Workers' Compensation.
• Strong understanding of insurance principles and practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)/Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certifications are preferred, but not required.
