FLSA: Exempt DEPARTMENT: Chief of Schools

SALARY: $93,000 -$130,000 WORK YEAR: 210 Days

Job Summary:
The Middle School Principal provides visionary leadership to promote the academic, social, and emotional success of all students. This role ensures a safe and supportive learning environment, fosters strong relationships with students, staff, and the community, and upholds district policies and state regulations.

Qualifications:
Education & Certification
  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, School Administration, or a related field.
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a General Administrative or Principal Endorsement required.
Experience
  • Minimum three to five years of successful teaching experience (middle school preferred).
  • Prior administrative or leadership experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of middle school curriculum, assessment, and instructional strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff, budgets, and school operations.
  • Proficiency in using technology to support instruction and administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership
  • Develops and implements instructional programs aligned with Illinois Learning Standards and district goals.
  • Supervises and evaluates teachers and staff to improve instructional practices.
  • Analyzes student performance data to guide curriculum improvements and interventions.
  • Promotes professional development opportunities for staff to enhance teaching and leadership skills.
School Culture and Climate
  • Establishes a positive and inclusive school environment that supports student engagement and achievement.
  • Implements and enforces discipline policies in accordance with Illinois School Code and district guidelines.
  • Encourages family and community involvement through regular communication and outreach.
Operations and Management
  • Develops and oversees the school budget, ensuring resource allocation aligns with educational priorities.
  • Manages school facilities, safety protocols, and crisis response plans.
  • Oversees the hiring, assignment, and retention of staff in compliance with district policies.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Title IX and special education requirements.
Equity and Student Support
  • Promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion in all school policies and practices.
  • Implements support programs for students with diverse academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Collaborates with district and community resources to provide student services, including counseling and intervention programs.

Work Environment & Conditions:
  • Full-time position
  • Some evening and weekend commitments required for school events, board meetings, and professional development.
  • Occasional travel for conferences and training.
