X-Ray Imaging Applications Engineer
Responsible for x-ray inspection and imaging activities according to internal or external customer specifications and ensuring accuracy and clarity of results.
Job Description:
Perform and document X-ray imaging studies with a variety of sources, detectors and geometries on sample parts.
Demonstrate system and software capabilities to customers in our lab and at their location.
Analyze and recommend X-ray imaging components including type of source, detector and X-ray technique for a given industrial application.
Troubleshoot imaging related problems for both in-house and field systems, to include providing remote support to existing customers.
Responsible for application and imaging testing on systems in development.
Apply known principles and techniques to examine, inspect and certify images of customer provided materials and complete required documents according to specific procedures and requirements.
Provide training to customers at our location or at their location.
Monitor emerging imaging technology developments and determine applicability.
Conduct experimental investigations with new imaging components and technologies.
Work closely with sales team and upper management
Interact with a cross-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical, software, imaging) to review, define, and design integrated system solutions to meet requirements of worldwide customers
Acquire necessary certifications by attending relevant courses and passing certification tests.
Develop and maintain best practices and quality processes for entire imaging function
Travel to customer sites worldwide to perform application studies, training, inspections or demonstrations and/or to participate in system installation, repairs or troubleshooting: approximately 30%.
Essential Skills:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering.
At least three (3) years of work experience in a technical customer facing role.
Must be a US citizen or permanent resident legally authorized to work in the US and able to obtain unescorted clearance to work at Government sites
Prior usage of MATLAB, C/C++, C# or Visual Basic
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with both customers and coworkers of varied disciplines
Proficiency in the English language with established writtenand verbal communication skills
Highly organized and self-motivated capable of successfully working in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
Must be a creative problem solver with well-developed analytical skills
Non-Essential Skills:
Familiarity working with at least two of the following: image quality, image physics, image sensors, cameras, frame-grabbers, computer interfaces or imaging related hardware
Prior experience in quality assurance, controlled design environment. (ISO 9000, NQA-1, or similar)
X-ray imaging system experience
Imaging processing experience
Physical and Mental Demands:
Must be able to fulfill essential job function in aconsistent state of alertness and safe manner
Regularly required to sit and stand using computer equipment for prolonged periods of time.
Will be required to sit, stand, walk, bend and work within and around systems in an industrial environment.
May be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel and operate hand tools, power tools, and related standard industrial production and office equipment.
Will be required to lift, move, carry, and/or maneuver materials up to 50 pounds alone; heavier with assistance.
May need to work or traverse upon ladders and/or elevated heights with proper safety gear.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Expected to effectively communicate in person, on phone, and via email and other electronic devices on a continual and repetitive basis.
Domestic and international travel via air, rail, and car.
