Job Title: X-Ray Technologist
Job Specialty: Radiologic Technology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Variable, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, some weekends may be needed
Guaranteed Hours: 37.50
Experience: 2+ years of X-ray technologist experience required
License: New York State License (L.R.T)
Certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Certified)
Must-Have: Competency in performing diagnostic procedures, excellent communication skills, team environment experience, quality focus, planning, dependability, and ability to create a safe, effective environment.
Job Description:
- Operate or oversee operation of radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures by positioning them and adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified positions; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Minimize radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam-restrictive devices, patient shielding, and having knowledge of exposure factors.
- Adhere to established infection control policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintain production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures, processing radiographs, observing radiographic results, and making necessary adjustments.
- Ensure the operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipating needed supplies.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by keeping up with regulatory CME requirements, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Complete yearly Age Specific Competency and other relevant duties as assigned.
