The Business Intelligence Director, GSK Canada is responsible for leading a team to understand "what is happening with our products today". As the Director, you will lead and develop a best in industry advanced analytics team to analyze product & market trends, commercial execution and development of deep insights to identify brand opportunities and risks.

The BI Director will align efforts across 4 Business Units to anticipate and address business questions for marketed and pipeline products. The BI Director will be accountable for partnering with multidisciplinary teams (Finance, Sales, Marketing and Medical, etc.) to analyze key issues and translate outputs from analyses into actionable solutions. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, capable of proactively identifying potential applications of analytics and proposing solutions, rather than always reacting to business requests.

The BI Director will need understand the market fundamentals, competitive environment, and analytic techniques to provide direction to the analytics team and to discuss the findings with business partners to enable data driven decision making. The Director will lead a Team of 17 professionals with 7 direct reports. The areas of focus are Brand Forecasting, Market Research, Salesforce Effectiveness, Salesforce Incentive and Analytical Strategy to support data driven decision making. The role will report to the Head of Business Excellence

This role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
  • Provides thought leadership in framing the business issue (problem statement) and objectives in a way that can be translated into analytical plans to generate actionable insights
  • Understand complex trends in the Canadian market through various Insights & Analytics (I&A) outputs and integrating marketing, sales & medical inputs to effectively lead the development of hypotheses and investigations the team will undertake
  • Responsible for promoting data-driven decision-making in our commercial organization by delivering clear data and analytic stories and ensuring the opportunities and risk are well understood
  • Builds and evolves analytic capability within the team and across Business Partners.
  • Play a key role interacting with Senior Leaders across the organization; lead with agility to effectively deploy team efforts
  • Foster strong, collaborative partnerships with other leaders in Canada and the Global Data and Analytics organizations to ensure solutions are aligned
  • Manage the operating budget and external partner relationships
  • Lead and drive performance with integrity, being a role model for team and peers

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10 plus years of pharmaceutical experience to include Analytics
  • Extensive experience creating high performing teams with a performance culture
  • Significant Project Management Experience
  • Demonstrable Leadership Experience


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • MBA or master's degree in marketing or related disciplines
  • Proven leadership experience organizing, managing, and motivating teams and external partners to perform
  • Experience across Pharmaceutical Therapy areas including Vaccines and Oncology
  • Practical experience within pharmaceutical commercialization across channels
  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity to drive analyses
  • Ability to influence across various levels and within various functions
  • Very strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal skills and ability to work in a time and resource constrained environment
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal), with the ability to communicate and present effectively to groups and senior leaders
