We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Director, Oncology Strategic Portfolio and Early Alliance Management position in North America (Spring House, PA or Raritan, NJ).

The Senior Director, Oncology Strategic Portfolio & Early Alliance Management position is a strategic planning, collaboration, and coordination role within the Oncology Business Strategy and Operations group that supports the development and execution of platform, asset, and business strategies to deliver novel therapeutics for patients. The position works with Oncology TA leadership, Janssen R&D functional leaders, and project teams to support strategic planning, coordination, and delivery of the Oncology Discovery and Early Development portfolios as well as the development and implementation of critical efficiency initiatives to expand partnerships, capabilities, and portfolio value.

The position will direct Directors, Senior Managers, and occasionally senior individual contributors in a matrix environment, and is accountable for meaningful career development conversations and regular coaching and feedback. Leads tasks pertaining to the research and development of organizational projects, from researching, planning, and implementing new strategies and procedures into the organization through keeping staff on schedule throughout project lifecycles. Ensures organizational projects are aligned with functional and business unit goals and maintains effective communication with all parties involved in a project. Adheres to established safety, privacy, and confidentiality protocol.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversight of early strategic portfolio management, prioritization, decision support, and resource allocation (including management of early portfolio governance)
  • Partner with Disease / Pathway Area Stronghold scientific leaders to develop strategies and
    advance new platforms, modalities, assets, and disease areas of scientific interest
  • Lead the capability build and management of early external strategic alliances
  • Facilitate Sr. Leadership Team meetings and coordinate strategic initiatives
  • Coordinate with project teams and cross-functional leaders to enhance planning and remove operational hurdles to deliver portfolio value
  • Build and manage performance & development of organization supporting strategic portfolio, platform development, and early alliance management capabilities
  • Champion organizational health efforts to enhance culture and ways of working
  • Business planning and reporting of pipeline with internal and external stakeholders, as appropriate
  • Lead implementation of tools and analytics to enhance organizational transparency, alignment, and clarity of direction

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or above is required. A Graduate Degree in a relevant science or business degree (PhD, MS, MBA, etc) is preferred.
  • Experience in a leadership role with a proven track record of success managing projects in a complex, cross-functional, research-driven pharmaceutical company is required
  • 10 or more years of related experience is required. Portfolio management experience in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to influence across multiple levels of management are required
  • Ability to work with internal senior leadership (Therapeutic Area & Global Functions), cross-functional project teams and external partner company leaders and alliance managers is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel international and domestically up to 10% of time.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$193,000 - $221,950
