Our challenge

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Core Python Developer to join our dynamic development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python programming and experience in developing robust, scalable applications. This role involves designing, coding, testing, and deploying Python applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Jersey City, NJ is $100k - $105k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

Application Development:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient Python applications in accordance with project requirements and specifications.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code that adheres to best practices and coding standards.
Integration and API Development:
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and web services to enable seamless communication between various systems and applications.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
Database Management:
  • Design and implement database schemas, optimize queries, and ensure data integrity using relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases.
  • Write and optimize database scripts and queries for data retrieval and storage.
Testing and Debugging:
  • Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software and identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Implement automated testing frameworks to enhance code quality and reliability.
Performance Optimization:
  • Analyze application performance and implement optimization strategies to enhance speed and efficiency.
  • Monitor application performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Documentation:
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, APIs, and systems to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members.
  • Document technical specifications and design decisions to support future development.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical insights.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to team discussions on best practices and new technologies.
Requirements:

You are:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in Python development, with a strong understanding of core Python concepts, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Proficiency in web frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
  • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
