Offering competitive salary and benefits.Title: Line MechanicAmmonia & HVAC TechnicianDate: 1/27/2024Reports to: Maintenance ManagerFLSA Classification: NonexemptDepartment: MaintenanceJob SummaryThe Line MechanicAmmonia & HVAC Technician ensures the proper functioning of production equipment, utilities, and refrigeration systems. Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs while adhering to safety and food safety regulations. Fluency in English and Spanish is essential for effective communication.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on production machinery, HVAC systems, ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers, and utility equipment.Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and utility-related issues to minimize downtime.Maintain refrigeration, cooling towers, boiler systems, and ensure proper chemical levels.Collaborate with production teams to support smooth operations and meet production goals.Conduct equipment setups, calibrations, and changeovers as needed.Maintain accurate documentation, including maintenance logs and utility system records.Execute assigned work orders and prioritize tasks as directed by management.Train maintenance staff and operators on equipment operations and troubleshooting.Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate component orders.Follow safety protocols, maintain a clean work environment, and adhere to GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).Required Skills & CompetenciesBilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal).Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and reading schematics.Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems, HVAC, and boiler operations.Ability to perform pump rebuilds, sensor calibrations, and PMs on compressors.Basic electrical knowledge, including familiarity with NFPA 70e requirements.Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and CMMS software.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification in industrial mechanics, HVAC, or refrigeration preferred).Experience: Minimum 3-5 years as a line mechanic or maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment (preferably food industry), with at least 5 years of progressive experience in ammonia refrigeration and HVAC.Certification in HVAC/R and knowledge of ammonia systems preferred.Valid driver?s license and availability to travel (up to 25%).Physical RequirementsAbility to lift and move up to 50 pounds.Comfortable standing, bending, climbing ladders, and working in varying temperatures and noisy environments for extended periods.Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.Work EnvironmentFast-paced manufacturing environment with temperature-controlled and non-controlled areas.Loud conditions requiring PPE.Non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required.BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experience.Company-sponsored medical, dental, and vision insurance.Paid time off and holiday pay.Opportunities for career advancement and professional development.A supportive and collaborative team environment.
