Position SummaryA Maintenance Technician must be able to perform a wide range of duties related to maintaining the facility including: an ability to read and understand blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and operating manuals; troubleshooting of electrical control circuits, mechanical and electrical systems; program PLC systems; knowledge of refrigeration systems; rebuilding and repairing pitters; welding and fabricating; ability to run the equipment and machines throughout the plant; and follow all safety procedures at all times. Essential FunctionsRead and understand blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and operating manualsTroubleshoot electrical control circuitsTroubleshoot mechanical and electrical systemsProgram PLC systemsHave a working knowledge of refrigeration systemsPerform or provide oversight to pitter rebuilds and repairsAbility to weld parts or structuresAbility to fabricate parts, guards, etc. as neededAbility to run line equipment unassistedAbility to repair and install plumbing systemsUnderstand electrical components such as timers, relay, transformers, etc.Ability to use these components in equipment redesign applicationsBe aware and follow all safety techniques (lockouts, bump caps, confined space, electrical safety, earplugs, forklift etc.) and consistently comply with all facility safety proceduresAbility to work with and on compressed air systems, solenoids, air cylinders, piping, etc.Identify needs and work with purchasing on obtaining replacement partsAbility to train maintenance and operating personnel in proper procedures of equipmentAbility to work flexible hours and maintain good attendance; work overtime as requiredDemonstrate consistent behavior indicating the capacity and willingness to function as an independent maintenance technician for the entire facility, needing only limited directionAccurate paperwork completion; maintain records/documentation as requiredOther tasks as assignedCompetencies and Certifications RequiredInternal GMP/HACCP/BRC TrainingExcellent communication skillsTrained and knowledgeable in the use ofPPE (personal protective equipment)Must pass respiratory fitness testOSHA Forklift LicensePhysical Demands of JobThe employee must be able to perform the physical demands listed below to perform this specific job functions:Frequent standing and walkingOccasional climbing, bending, stooping, and twistingFrequent lifting and/or pushing/pulling up to 50 poundsWork EnvironmentThe work environments listed here are representative of those that may be encountered by employee while performing the functions of this job:Wet or humid conditionsExtreme temperaturesExposure to brine (sulfur dioxide, pH of solution to 3.0)Exposure to bleach (chlorine dioxide, chlorine, pH of solution to 3.0)Exposure to maintenance and/or cleaning chemicalsThe company has reviewed this job description to ensure that essential functions and basic duties have been included.
