Controls Manager
For more than 80 years, we've led the charge in revolutionizing pet food production and its ability to enrich the lives of pets everywhere. By 1956, through innovative engineering, we literally reshaped pet care, introducing Dog Chow as the first extruded dry food. We're still at it today, with Tidy Cats, the lightweight cat litter champion of the world and Pro Plan Bright Mind, a breakthrough formula with enhanced botanical oils shown to promote alertness and mental sharpness in aging dogs. Such leadership requires constant innovation and renovation, which is so often rooted in engineering.
Position Summary
As a Controls Manager, you will have overall accountability for the functionality and performance of the discipline. You will be responsible for assigning work, providing support and guidance to team members, and ensuring the services and deliverables provided by their discipline will meet NPPC standards. The Controls Manager is responsible for monitoring workload within their discipline and proactively managing assignments so that deliverables are completed in accordance with the approved budget and established milestone date(s). The Controls Manager effectively leads several direct reports.

- Support day to day factory NCE TPM (continuous improvement) initiatives through coaching, training, and leadership activities.
- Guide the activities of engineers, technicians and other support staff in the planning, scheduling, design, and execution of projects.
- Monitor and maintain department productivity and ensure NPPC Engineering and quality standards are met.
- Develop and/or maintain technical and administrative processes, tools, and guidelines pertaining to Instrumentation & Controls.
- Fluent knowledge of Instrumentation engineering and workflow(s), as well as interdisciplinary interaction required to successfully complete projects.
- Understanding and ownership of electrical power systems, hazardous energy control procedures, and electrical safety work-related practices.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
- 5+ years' control system design, PLC logic and programming, electrical and automation troubleshooting, and hardware application experience in a manufacturing, industrial, technical, military, or related environment.
- 1+ years' people leadership experience.
