The SHE Manager empowers excellence in safety, health and environmental sustainability across the Nestle Development Center (NDC) by developing, coordinating and executing Safety, Health, & Environment (SHE) strategies and driving implementation. The SHE Manager provides leadership across all parts of the facility to enable staff to fulfill SHE goals and build safety culture behaviors and ensures daily employee compliance with government laws/regulations as well as Nestle policy.

Position Summary:

The SHE Manager provides leadership across all parts of the facility to enable staff to fulfill SHE goals and build safety culture behaviors and ensures daily employee compliance with government laws/regulations as well as Nestle policy.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create a compelling understanding of the Nestle SHE values and inspire stakeholders to excel in compliance & continuously improve. Promote a behavioral approach to SHE, based on Nestle Leadership Framework.
- Identify SHE priorities, current & future challenges, and opportunities for change at NDC level. Develop a holistic strategy and implementation plan aligned with the overall organizational priorities and goals. Guide implementation and communication of the strategy.
- Guide implementation of SHE standards; develop and continuously improve SHE programs to deliver compliance and performance improvement. Ensure local S&H management system is certified to OHSAS 18001:2007 and to ISO14001:2004.
- Provide training and coaching to managers and team leaders to ensure they lead and manage SHE within their area of responsibility. Provide personal coaching and support to NDC Leadership Team.
- Develop and coordinate SHE networks of professionals, champions, and subject matter experts for the facility. Develop functional and leadership competencies and ensure robust succession plans for key SHE positions.
- Ensure managers receive trusted guidance and support on relevant SHE matters. Identify expertise and good practices from inside and outside Nestle and communicate internally.
- Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure delivery of high quality and efficient SHE support for exposure monitoring, health promotion, health surveillance, life cycle assessment, and training. Leverage available tools to monitor and analyze performance and improve decision making.
- Ensure compliance is regularly audited and performance assessed and use the results to drive further improvement. Promote effective communication of successes and learnings and ensure recognition for strong performers and contributors.
- Engage with external stakeholders (e.g., trades unions, local regulators, local communities, and local NGOs) on SHE topics to build long term, positive relationships. Participate in external forums to benchmark with other companies, and share Nestle practices.
Job Qualifications (Minimum Education, Experience, and Knowledge)
- B.S. degree in a safety, environmental or similar discipline required, and NEBOSH S&H IGC (or equivalent) preferred
- Knowledge of Nestle policies on S&H at Work and Env. Sustainability, Group SHE Roadmaps, Standards & Guidelines, local regulatory framework and requirements
- Experience with full range of SHE risks & impacts and their management, plus personal health risk factors & health promotion. Understand the requirements of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001.
- Knowledge of Nestle Practices: NSLBBs, ErgoPro, Safe Modes of Operation & Maintenance, SHE-PM, Caring through Feedback, Management of High-Hazard Tasks, pESIS, EcoDesign, NESECA, Responsible Sourcing, etc.
- Good understanding of Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing Systems as well as Supply Chain.
- Experience with analyzing complex problems to identify multiple root causes.
- Experience with influencing behavioral change in a team/department.
- Experience working in and leading cross-functional teams.
- Experience with translating policies & standards into practical action plans.
- Experience with coaching individuals and teams in different environments.
- Experience working in an operational environment.
- Excellent skills in transversal leadership and engagement of groups and individuals.
- Effective communication skills with different organizational levels.
- Ability to take proactive approach to anticipated issues and process improvement.
