Job Summary

Harvard University Planning and Design (HUPAD) is responsible for the stewardship of one of the world's most iconic campus settings and advances Harvard's mission of teaching and research by enhancing, sustaining, and optimizing the physical campus to achieve planning and design excellence. While remaining centered in its historical Cambridge and Boston geography, the University today includes diverse campus locations throughout the United States and the world.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of experience in Architecture, Planning, Spatial Information, Facilities Management or related field. Education beyond high school may count towards experience.
  • Experience using AutoCAD to modify architectural drawings and to create dimensionally correct as-built plans from field measurements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or Access and a solid working knowledge of the MS Windows environment


Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Planning, Spatial Information, Facilities Management or related field strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction documents.
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Macros, and industry standards.
  • Working knowledge of AutoDesk Revit (building information modeling) software.
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to work and follow through independently.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to prioritize as well as organize multiple tasks.
  • Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service. Professional manner, strong oral communication, problem solving and teamwork skills.
  • A solid working knowledge of relational database concepts is highly desirable.
  • Experience using Computer Automated Facility Management (CAFM) information systems, particularly MRI CenterStone, is highly desirable.
  • Experience using Dynamo (for Revit), FME, SketchUp, MS SQL Server, Power BI, Tableau or Adobe software is desirable.
  • Knowledge of higher education facility information classification (NCES FICM) and experience in academic/higher education environment, particularly campus planning or operations is desirable.
  • Experience writing data standards and documenting processes strongly preferred.
  • Experience providing software technical support and training strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with Microsoft SharePoint and Teams is helpful.


Working Conditions

This position is based on campus in Cambridge. Properties owned or operated by Harvard that may require on-site field work are located mainly in Cambridge, Boston, and Somerville. Individual flexible work options for this role will be discussed during the interview process.
