Practice Details
Sanford Children's Specialty Clinic, a multi-specialty pediatric clinic, is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Cardiologist to add depth to the existing program.
Join a team of four Pediatric Cardiologists.
Sanford Children's Specialty clinic is a well-established, full range practice. This very busy and growing practice is particularly interested in physicians who share their philosophy to establish strong relationships with patients, their families and relate well to referring physicians and colleagues.
Ideal opportunity for an individual who desires to have an academic environment in a primarily clinical practice.
Teaching medical students, pediatric residents and adult cardiology fellows is expected.
Research opportunities are also available.
Largest pediatric sub-specialty group in the region consisting of 70+ pediatric sub-specialists.
Sanford Children's Hospital has 146 beds and is the only free-standing children's hospital in the state of SD.

Job Description
Pediatric Cardiology Core Privileges include the ability to perform history and physical examination, admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide treatment or consultative services to children and adolescents up to the age of 21 presenting with cardiovascular disease and adults with history of congenital heart disease and disorders of the heart and blood vessels. Physician also may provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with Rules and Regulation and hospital policies.

Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. degree.

Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways:
An applicant who has just completed a fellowship shall provide his/her fellowship log.
OR
An applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement of 25 Pediatric Cardiology procedures during the past two years with satisfactory quality data.
OR
If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant's clinical-based activity for the past 24 months is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement 25 Pediatric Cardiology procedures during the past two years with satisfactory quality data.

More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.

Successful completion of a Pediatric residency program of at least three years' duration, and completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology of at least 3 years' duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada. The Credentials Committee; Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee; and the Board of Directors or the Board of Governors may consider training at residency or fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the above.

Certification by the appropriate specialty /subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
