Job Description
-With general direction, the candidate will plan, design, and supervise construction of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure.
-Technical work will be civil and/or process focused and involve water / wastewater pipelines, pump stations and treatment facilities.
-A key focus of this position is to assist with development and implementation of a lead service line replacement program for communities in and around Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
-Opportunity to direct and mentor junior engineering staff on technical aspects of water and wastewater designs.
-Contribute to the firm's technical knowledge base through participation in professional organizations and conferences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Consult with and provide guidance to project stakeholders regarding water / wastewater engineering requirements and strategy.
- Work with a modeling team to develop design plans and hydraulic calculations.
- Provide technical direction in the development of water and wastewater specifications.
- Support municipal clients during bidding and construction phases.
- Support cost estimation activities when developing opinions of probable construction cost.
- Coordinate civil and process work with other disciplines (e.g., structural, geotechnical, architectural, electrical, HVAC).
- Monitor project progress to ensure on time delivery of design packages.
Desired skills include:
- Thorough understanding of engineering principles, practices, and tools.
- Familiar with fundamentals of computer assisted design to provide design information to a CAD technician and develop drafted deliverables.
- Thorough understanding of the municipal design - bid - build cycle on water and/or wastewater projects.
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations that are required during implementation and operation of conveyance and treatment facilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

-Professional engineering (PE) license.
-7 years of related experience.
-Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of engineering principles, practices, and tools.
- Knowledge of computer assisted design tools such that the candidate can provide design information to a CAD technician and develop drafted deliverables.
- Thorough understanding of the municipal design - bid - build cycle on water and/or wastewater projects.
