Schwab Compliance is seeking a Director to lead the Compliance team to provide regulatory advice and guidance for all Schwab retail advisory offerings including digital, mutual fund and ETF wrap programs, a non-discretionary wealth management offering, financial planning services, and an advisor referral network. This role has significant oversight of meeting Rule 206(4)-7 requirements, ERISA, Fiduciary/Regulation Best Interest, new product initiatives and will lead the compliance program for Charles Schwab & Co. as sponsor for Schwab's advisory offers.
The Director, Retail Wealth Management Compliance position is an important leadership role within Schwab Compliance and serves as a key partner to specific businesses, peers in Compliance, other second line functions, Legal and Internal Audit. This person will also carry out other duties as assigned by the Managing Director, including, but not limited to project work, ADV review and filings, and other components of Schwab's 206(4)-7 program. The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director, Compliance whose responsibilities include supporting the Wealth and Advice Solutions business and lead for enterprise-wide New Products Risk.

What you have
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business/Finance/Economics or related disciplines, post-secondary degree, e.g., JD, MBA or equivalent, viewed favorably.
- 10 plus years industry experience including demonstrated leadership experience, with a minimum of 5-10 years Advisory Compliance or SEC regulatory experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- FINRA 7 and 24 (9/10), 65, or 66.
- Excellent knowledge and practical experience with the Investments Advisers Act of 1940 and its implementation within a retail advisory services platform.
- Working knowledge of other regulatory standards (Fiduciary, ERISA, DOL etc.).
- Up to date knowledge of recent regulatory developments particularly around issues concerning advice for retirement accounts, digital advice and wrap fee programs.
- Demonstrated success in transforming organizations in a highly collaborative environment to influence compliance and controls while building strong internal and external partnerships and providing coaching and guidance to varied stakeholders.
- Relationship-oriented leader who manages complex, multistakeholder issues with resilience, embraces others' perspectives and understands the limits to their own points of view.
- Ability to provide a clear, independent risk management perspective in accordance with the Board-approved risk appetite.
- Ability to embrace an enterprise view in identifying, assessing, mitigating, measuring, and monitoring Compliance risks consistent with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Ability to take ownership and proven track record of enterprise-wide thinking.
- Demonstrated success attracting, retaining, empowering, and developing a diverse group of employees with the skillsets and expertise to identify, measure and manage compliance risk effectively.
