  • Program / Strategy: Maintain a strong risk management program, inclusive of risk appetites, risk identification, measurement and limits, and independent reporting in support of the continued growth of Charles Schwab.
  • Scale & Simplicity: We continually optimize processes within the Corporate Risk Management (CRM) organization while enhancing quality and consistency of information, through the use of scalable technologies and data analytics.
  • The EORM Strategy and Operations team drives strategy, change, structure and discipline to EORM's operational activities, with a focus on driving scale and simplicity across the EORM organization.
The EORM Senior Manager will report to the Director of EORM Strategy and Operations. As part of the EORM Strategy and Operations Team, the Sr. Manager coordinates enterprise and operational risk management activities including but not limited to corporate records retention, business continuity planning, budget support, CRM and EORM All Hands and Town Hall meetings, and leads the coordination and execution of the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) to continuously enhance and strengthen how we identify, assess, control and report on risk for the EORM organization.

Managing these activities requires strategic thinking, astute attention to detail as well as moving parts, trusted and collaborative relationships across the organization, clear communication to develop and deliver polished presentations to executive leadership, and ability to influence a diverse audience using subject matter expertise and executive presence.

The Sr. Manager of EORM Operations has the following responsibilities:
  • Serving as the RCSA Facilitator for EORM and Primary RCSA Facilitator for CRM; providing the highest level of technical expertise and thought leadership on the MyGRC object structure, Schwab's RSCA framework and industry best practices
  • Continuously monitoring and updating the RCSA, in partnership with Control Owners, as there are changes in EORM's risk and control environment (e.g., new issues, new vendors, etc.)
  • Implementing a consistent process across EORM to partner with EORM's Issue Owners and Action Plan Owners to perform a quality assurance review of issue remediation artifacts before submitting for closure
  • Compiling an executive-level, current-state view of the CRM RCSA on a quarterly basis and presenting to the Chief Risk Officer and CRM Leadership Team, including any material updates
  • Leading coordination of the EORM Issue Management, Business Continuity Planning, Business Impact Analysis, Corporate Records Retention, and Internal Audit, EORM Townhall and CRM All Hands
What you have

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business/Finance/Risk or related disciplines, post-secondary degree, MBA or equivalent, viewed favorably.
  • At least 5 years of risk management and industry experience in financial services
  • Demonstrated success in transforming organizations in a highly collaborative environment to influence efficient operations while building strong internal and external partnerships and providing coaching and guidance to varied stakeholders.
  • Relationship-oriented leader who manages complex, multistakeholder issues with resilience, embraces others' perspectives and understands the limits to their own points of view.
  • Strong writing and visual presentation skills to distill robust and complex information into clear, concise, and actionable executive summaries
  • Highly skilled in Excel and Power Point
  • Highly skilled with utilizing Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) tools, including updating RCSA and Issue Management data within the tool
  • Ability to take ownership and proven track record of enterprise-wide thinking.
