Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide psychiatric coverage for psychiatric inpatients on Deskovick 5 on weekends and holidays.
• Provide psychiatric consultation for medical-surgical inpatients on weekends and holidays.
• Work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team on Deskovick 5 comprised of nurses, social workers, therapists.
• Work collaboratively with the mental health professionals in the crisis intervention services and respond to requests for psychiatric consultation from the Emergency Department.
• Supervise medical students and residents on call over the weekends and on holidays.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides and develops clinical consultation services in various areas of the Hospital.

Provides timely consultation to Deskovick 5 staff in person or via telephone for any psychiatric issues within the D-5 Unit.

Consults with and supervises, as appropriate, the Deskovick 5 team members to determine the course of patient treatment and recommendations for discharge.

Provides timely psychiatric evaluations, follow-up and medication monitoring of patients in treatment in the Inpatient Unit and other hospital services. Provides psychotherapy as clinically needed.

Provides timely emergency psychiatric consultations to the medical and surgical floors of Morristown Medical Center.

Provides clinical supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialist working in hospital programs.

Provides timely consultation to the inpatient staff.

Assumes responsibility for the development and execution of consultative services in various departments throughout the Hospital.

Qualifications

NJ Medical Board License

Board Certified or Board eligible General Psychiatry
