Description

The Husson University School of Pharmacy is seeking a full-time (11-month) Pharmacy Practice faculty. All faculty ranks (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor) will be considered with preference given to individuals having experience in Community Pharmacy Practice or Ambulatory Care. Faculty members are expected to establish and maintain a University-funded and joint-funded clinical practice site for students' introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences, and to teach assigned courses specific to areas of expertise and as required by the curriculum. In addition, faculty members are expected to fulfill responsibilities in student advising, scholarship, and service to the School and University.

The Husson University School of Pharmacy offers a traditional four-year professional program. Students can enter via an undergraduate pathway, earning a BS in Health Sciences and a PharmD in six years, or enter the professional program directly with the appropriate prerequisites. Husson University is committed to delivering premier professional programs that emphasize experiential learning, interprofessional education, and student success. In addition to the School of Pharmacy, Husson University also offers healthcare degree programs within the College of Health and Pharmacy from the Schools of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Nursing. Together these programs constitute nearly one-third of the University's enrollment.

Husson University is a private institution of approximately 3,200 undergraduate and graduate students located in Bangor, Maine, as well as an ever-growing online division which is home to 900 students. Examples of Duties

Teaching/Precepting:
A Pharmacy Practice faculty member is responsible for didactic and experiential instruction that includes establishing and maintaining a viable and relevant practice site where students are assigned for introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences. A variety of practice sites is available in the area, including Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, St. Joseph Hospital, and Penobscot Community Health Center (PCHC).

Scholarship and Professional Activity:
Faculty members are expected to remain current within their professional areas of expertise and to participate in scholarly activities as defined by the Husson University Faculty Handbook, which adheres to the Boyer Model of Scholarship.

Service and Student Advising:
Faculty members are expected to contribute to and participate in the work of the School of Pharmacy, College of Health and Pharmacy, and the University by serving on committees, attending meetings and retreats, and other activities as appropriate. Faculty members also maintain student office hours and advise pre-pharmacy and pharmacy students.
Typical Qualifications

The individual must have the following skills:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Education:
A minimum of a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and PGY-1 Residency or equivalent experience is preferred, as well as board certification in applicable practice area(s).
Fellowships, applicable post-doctoral degrees, and other certifications are advantageous.

Licensure:
Current Maine pharmacist license or eligibility for licensure in Maine is required.

Experience:
A minimum of a PGY-1 residency or at least three years of clinical experience in acute care pharmacy practice is required. Preference will be given to applicants with a PGY-2 residency, pharmacy fellowship, teaching experience in higher education, or experience precepting pharmacy students.
