Job Summary

The Child Mind Institute has an opportunity for a 2-year Neurobehavioral Analystposition in the Autism Center Research Team. The successful candidate will work on NIH-funded and other studies investigating neural correlates of behavioral and/or cognitive traits of school-age children and preschoolers with autism and related neurodevelopmental conditions. A range of data types including functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), physiological measures (e.g., heart rate, respiration, EEG), computer-based cognitive tasks, eye-tracking and clinical questionnaires are processed with a range of analytical methods including univariate and multivariate approaches.

With strong interpersonal and organizational skills, this candidate should possess a keen attention to detail, strong data management, documentation, and analytical abilities, willingness to learn and develop additional computer and analytical skills, as well ability to contribute to manuscript writing for peer-review and presentations. The candidate should be prepared to assist in technical aspects of data collection for specific projects to gain a deeper understanding of data structure and analyses' needs.

Responsibilities
  • Implement quality data assurance protocols and updated them, as needed, in collaborations with PI and Postdoctoral research fellow.
  • Multi-site MRI and behavioral data cleaning, harmonization, and preprocessing
  • Learning and implementing new statistical methods for analyses of neuroimaging, behavioral data and related data.
  • Develop graphs, reports, and summary presentations of project results.
  • Support research data base management of ongoing data collection projects.
  • Support with implementing, execution, and maintenance of fMRI imaging analysis pipelines.
  • Perform basic and advanced univariate and multivariate statistical analyses for projects and reports.
  • Conduct scientific literature review under guidance of PI and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Attend and present at team meetings.
  • Contribute to peer-reviewed manuscript submissions for publication.
  • Assist in collecting imaging, physiological, and behavioral data for assigned studies.


Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Biomedical engineering, Neuroscience, Psychology or other related scientific fields required; Masters Degree preferred
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Matlab, R and/or python) required.
  • Familiarity with neuroimaging techniques (fMRI, EEG, etc) preferred.
  • Experience with neuroimaging analysis and proficiency with one or more packages (e.g. FreeSurfer, AFNI, FSL, Workbench or SPM) preferred.
  • Prior clinical and/or research experience in autism or related developmental conditions is preferred.
  • Prior research experience is preferred.
  • The candidate must be willing and available to work an alternative work schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication, and the ability to work as a member of a team, as well as independently.
  • Must be able to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
