CPH has an opening in either the Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, or Miami Florida office for the following position:

Director of Planning

CPH is seeking a growth oriented Certified Planner with strong organizational, management, and technical skills to lead our expanding Planning division. The Director will manage all facets of the Planning division including business development, client management, resource allocation, workflow optimization and recruiting. The ideal candidate would have extensive experience with private and public projects including entitlements, master planning, mixed-use, visioning, comprehensive planning, CRA's, and special studies. Clients include state agencies, local governments, and national developers.

Duties Include:
  • Oversight and management of firm's Planning operations.
  • Partner with senior management to develop and implement division short- and long-term objectives aligned with company core focus and values.
  • Reports directly to senior executive management with fiduciary responsibilities for the planning division.
  • Collaboration with firm disciplines, directors, and business development teams.
  • Management of clients, continuing municipal service contracts and national account programs.
  • Research, develop and implement best practices to increase productivity and efficiency of division.
  • Oversight and management of division's workflow including its approach to projects.
  • Establish and monitor performance goals for division and adjust as warranted.
  • Assist with evaluation, prioritization, and distribution of workload.
  • Fulfilling requirements as the firm's lead Planner for company licensure in multiple states as needed.
  • Research, interpretation, and implementation of relevant codes and client requirements.
  • Travel to perform business development, division management, and client management.
  • Oversight and mentoring Planning staff. Includes assisting with HR related activities and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Implementation of division quality control.
  • Development, negotiation, and review of project contracts including scope, planning, schedules, and budgets.
  • Participation in qualifications package and proposal preparation for business development.
  • Presentations to the public, clients, governing agencies, and other organizations.


Requirements and Qualifications:

Requirements:
  • Design experience in preparing master plans, visioning, and site plans.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to prepare sketches, concepts, and site plan graphics.
  • Experience preparing reports, including due diligence reports, site feasibility studies and justification statements.
  • Ability to conduct zoning code, land development regulation and comprehensive plan research, and apply standards to site specific development proposals.
  • Demonstrated experience with preparing entitlement submittal documents, including rezoning, comprehensive plan amendments, development order amendments, variances, and site plan approval applications.
  • Must have strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
  • Strong report writing, written, verbal and design communication skills for preparation of presentation materials and correspondence.
  • Must be proficient with MS Teams, outlook, word, excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing and directing entry-level planners, including reviewing quality of work.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban or Regional Planning or related field (Architecture, Landscape Architecture) from an accredited four-year college.
  • AICP Certification Required; Congress for New Urbanism Accreditation (CNU-a) preferred.
  • Demonstrated 10+ years of planning experience.
