Job Summary
Client Services Engineering is looking for a research scientist to design, coordinate, execute, and monitor research studies which enable the development and evaluation of large language models (LLM).
In this role, you will work with teams of Data Scientists, Product Managers, Engineers, and others to design and execute research testing how humans evaluate LLM features. You will combine broad skills in survey/experimental design, machine learning, statistical analysis, and programming. You will impact customer-facing experiences by delivering exciting oral, written, and visual presentations about our findings.
Key Qualifications
Strong understanding of machine learning principles.
Advanced user of Python, R, or similar, for data analysis and experience with SQL.
Expertise in survey/experiment design and methodology.
Can own and pursue a research agenda, including choosing impactful research problems and autonomously carrying out projects.
Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations and virtual teams.
Strongly Preferred: Knowledgable about LLMs, including techniques for alignment (e.g., Supervised Fine Tuning, Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback) and evaluation (e.g., human evaluation, automated benchmarks).
Education
PhD or Master's degree (PhD preferred) in Psychology, Behavioral Science/Economics, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Social Science, Human-Computer Interaction or related field.
