The Workman School of Dental Medicine is currently seeking an Attending Faculty position. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment with duties in the High Point University Oral Health Network (OHN) and Workman School of Dental (WSDM), which includes the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and post-doctoral programs. Professional rank will be commensurate with the candidate's level of experience and qualifications at time of hire.
The faculty member in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Anesthesiology is responsible in providing patient care in OHN and educating pre-doctoral dental students and post-doctoral residents in WSDM. The position will report to the Chief Dental Officer and executive leadership team (ELT) of the Workman School of Dental Medicine.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- DDS or DMD degree (or foreign equivalent), active full dental licensure in the state of North Carolina
- MD degree is preferred, but not required
- Completion of a CODA-accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program in the United Stated
Experience and Training
- 5 years of experience in OMFS practice and/or teaching is preferred, but not required.
- Experience in hospital-based and private-practice (outpatient) environments

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The candidate selected for this position will perform all duties directed by the Chief Dental Officer and WSDM executive leadership team (ELT). The candidate will be expected to perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
Patient care
- Provide comprehensive and emergency OMFS services for patients seen in affiliate hospitals with the HPU Oral Health Network (OHN)
- Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, ethical-fitness, and patient-centered approach
- Documentation of patient history, examination findings, diagnosis, treatment planning utilizing electronic health record (EPIC)
- Comfort with multi-disciplinary approach to treatments
- Be able to cover for other OHN providers, as needed.
Education
- Serve as an attending clinical faculty for DMD and/or residents.
- Involvement in curriculum design for DMD and post-doctoral students.
- Provide continuing education courses in HPU WSDM as a content matter expert.
- Serve as a clinician role model for learners and be able to thrive in a start-up education model.
Leadership
- Developing and growing hospital service lines by establishing collaborations with other healthcare providers, administrators, and APPs
- Interest in hospital/GME-funded program development in dental anesthesiology and potentially OMFS
- Provide feedback for design and development of surgical/specialty HUBs
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Chief Dental Officer, Dean
- Evaluation: Ongoing performance reviews is conducted along with an annual assessment by the CDO and includes input from the ELT, faculty and students.
