Essential Duties
1. Leads the implementation of administrative efforts focused on physician group development, recruitment, strategic planning, revenue cycle, physician compensation, and overall physician group efficiency.2. In partnership with clinical department leaders and health system leaders, facilitates integration of services providing a seamless patient experience.3. Ensures overall execution of key business improvements within administrative areas to catalyze efficiency, effectiveness and reduce administrative costs.4. Prepares for Board meetings by developing the agenda, building presentations, and leading discussions during the meetings.5. Oversees the development of economic forecasts for ACE physician revenue and clinical expenses.6. Evaluates and establishes policies and operational procedures ensuring keeping in line with best practices.7. Leads strategic ACE initiatives through integrated work groups comprised of faculty and staff from across the ACE, academic departments, and YNHHS.8. Leads development of thoughtful, detail-oriented, and high-quality analyses to provide executive level summaries, written documents, flow charts and/or spreadsheets.9. Provide expertise on healthcare market trends that impact the physician business enterprise (both local and national market trends).10. Manages policy development and implementation in various departmental areas.11. Develops and executes overarching strategies for supporting clinician recruitment, onboarding, and wellness, ensuring alignment with the vision and objectives of the ACE.12. Fosters collaboration with pertinent health system and university stakeholders to optimize recruitment processes and ensure congruence with organizational goals.13. Cultivates strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and external entities to expand the talent pool and elevate recruitment endeavors.14. Spearheads the formulation and execution of a comprehensive primary care strategy that aligns with priority and goals of the ACE. Identifies opportunities for optimizing primary care services to enhance patient outcomes and accessibility, particularly for underserved populations including developing sustainable approaches for embedding mental and behavioral healthcare into primary care.15. Integrates the management services (MSO) functions of YM and NEMG that support the clinical practices and the CIN. 16. Served as the liaison to the Union that staffs YM.17. Oversee clinician onboarding for new PSAs, mergers, acquisitions in collaboration with ACE's business planning and development team.
Required Education and Experience
Master's degree in business administration, Healthcare Management, or related field and a minimum of 10 years' experience in progressive leadership roles in a multi-specialty group practice, PHO or IPA or within an integrated health system.

Yale Medicine and Yale New Haven Health System is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer for the Aligned Clinician Enterprise (ACE) which is comprised of Yale Medicine (YM), the Yale School of Medicine Faculty Practice Plan (FPP), and Northeast Medical Group (NEMG), the Medical Foundation of YNHHS. This leader will possess the ability to lead by influence and persuasion in a complex environment. Ideal candidates should have a track record of leading strategic initiatives to enhance quality, service, and access for patients within comparable group practice organization; experience working on optimizing patient safety and satisfaction, customer service, and establishing best practices for medical group management; recognition as a collaborative team player who is a good communicator and brings out the best in the team; and deep respect for the mission of the organization. The ability to lead successfully in a highly competitive market is also critical for this role.
Reporting to the YNHHS Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Executive and Deputy Dean for Clinical Affairs, the Chief Administrative Officer will work closely with the Yale School of Medicine clinical chairs, the YM and NEMG CFOs and CMOs, relevant enterprise partners, and the ACE advisory committee to lead strategic initiatives to enhance quality, service, and access for patients while providing strategic administrative support to the ACE and oversight if its MSO functions. The CAO for ACE also will be responsible for supporting strategic clinician recruitment including executing on the primary care strategy for the enterprise.
At the direction of the Chief Physician Executive, the Chief Administrative Officer acts as the strategic leader for the FPP, ensuring ACE is effectively represented in network development, ambulatory initiatives, value-based programs, and overall health system finances. Assures the highest standards of healthcare delivery and outcomes, ensuring a constant patient focus. Sustains an environment of continuous quality improvement, including the identification of concrete performance measures across clinical, service, financial, operational, management, patient satisfaction, and community functions. Hardwires responsive and proactive processes and systems in order to meet market pressures and growth. In collaboration with senior leadership, refines and executes the overall strategy of the enterprise, and strengthens/aligns the business and clinical objectives across the continuum, positioning medical group for future sustainability. Manages financial performance to ensure ACE is performing to budget goals. Manages the network integrity to achieve system growth objectives to minimize leakage. Implements and maintains strong internal controls to provide effective and appropriate resource use, accurate financial information, and adherence to contractual terms. Communicates, addresses, and escalates risks in a timely and appropriate manner to protect the assets, resources, information and reputation of the organization and the University. Employs effective practices for retaining, attracting, and developing talent in line with University and YNHSS guidelines and contractual agreements. Ensures that all organization staff participate in the performance management and career development processes. Assures that ACE follows appropriate policies and procedures related to Human Resources.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
MBA or Related Graduate Level Degree. Over ten years of strategic leadership of a physician group. Experience within an academic healthcare environment. Clinical degree or experience is a plus. Experience working in a union environment.
