POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Teaching Associate
Full-time, 12-month (July 1-June 30) academic position on a yearly appointment and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms
Be a member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, fellows, residents, and RNs providing acute care services to patients and families
Successful candidate will be responsible for providing independent and collaborative patient management of cardiac surgical patients following transfer from the intensive care unit through discharge to the outpatient setting
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Work on a dedicated cardiothoracic inter-professional team with other established APPs, Cardiothoracic surgeons, and Mechanical Circulatory support providers
Perform minor bedside procedures and wound management as needed
Provide a full spectrum of care for cardiac acute care surgical patients
Participate in the education of nursing staff and surgical residents
Participate in quality improvement projects and process improvement activities for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery
Minimum Qualifications:
Current and valid state Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C
Graduate Degree from and accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant Program
Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA
Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment
Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of patients undergoing Cardiothoracic Surgical procedures.
ACLS Certification
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills
