Summary
We are looking for a Data Integration and Analysis Manager. In this role, you will manage the Department's integration and analysis of data, develop procedures for data applications, identify database and process issues that affect productivity, provide management and support to Charleston Police Department's Crime Analysis staff, coordinate detailed reports from various databases, and manage crime intelligence data and GIS mapping systems.

Summary
We are looking for a Data Integration and Analysis Manager. In this role, you will manage the Department's integration and analysis of data, develop procedures for data applications, identify database and process issues that affect productivity, provide management and support to Charleston Police Department's Crime Analysis staff, coordinate detailed reports from various databases, and manage crime intelligence data and GIS mapping systems.
Examples of Duties
- Monitors logical and physical Crime Intelligence and GIS databases, Configures, monitors and loads software enhancements on the systems as required, reviews updates to understand how enhancements made affect physical database (how data is stored, managed, inputted and extracted, amount of space, and access method).
- Directs, supervises and coordinates all projects undertaken by the Crime Analysis units.
- Modifies physical database parameters to tune for efficiency.
- Evaluates current procedures and processes for accomplishing Department objectives and continuously develops and implements improved practices as it relates to data integration and analysis.
- Coordinates all data from various systems and consolidates for reporting purposes.
- Promotes the development of adequate testing and training strategies to ensure the effective implementation of system functionality.
- Coordinates system testing and facilitates end-user acceptance test teams as necessary.
- Using a variety of sources gathers crime data and creates reports for department on a weekly or daily basis (if needed).
- Performs end-to-end project management for initiatives involving G.I.S and data integration and analysis as assigned.
- Utilizing best practices, drafts and monitors project plans and schedules and manages resources to deliver project objectives as defined.
- Reviews and corrects G.I.S. computer programs.
- Assures disaster recovery processes are being maintained and performed in an adequate timeframe to provide satisfactory recovery should a disaster (including but not limited to: wind, fire, flood, electrical outages and terrorists activities) occur, to the best of their ability.
- Configures, monitors and works in collaboration with the IT Department to load software enhancements on database servers. Codes database descriptions and specifies identifiers of database to database management system or direct others in coding database descriptions.
- Ascertains detailed system requirements and specifications and initiates system flow charts including input and output document design and internal processing logic.
- Monitors for trouble spots and makes corrections, doing a patch analysis to insure the latest version of software is on the computers, installing required patches, and troubleshooting problems.
- Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database.
- Selects and enters codes of utility program to monitor database performance such as distribution of records and amount of available memory.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in related field and 6 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Related experience to include: 2 years of Database/Mapping Administration on any medium-large scale database systems.
- Previous training and experience working with ESRI - GIS software products and experience working with CRYSTAL reporting software, or similar software system.
- Valid driver's license
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Access, Project, Excel and Word or similar software.
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute by touch.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Sequel Database.
