The Role:

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining control systems for mobile commercial and defense applications. Both model-based and hand code techniques are employed in the development of embedded control software. May provide technical leadership and assist with training less experienced engineers. Requires independent judgment and initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development
  • Develop control strategies for transmissions and related mobile applications.
  • Control model development and simulation
  • Control software generation from control model
  • Embedded C code development for embedded controllers
  • Develop requirements documents and reports
  • Data acquisition & analysis
  • Calibration and commissioning of control systems if field
  • Simulation model testing
  • Software testing in virtual environment
  • Hardware in loop testing

  • Electrical System Design
  • Electrical circuit/subsystem design for mobile applications
  • Electrical schematic development in AutoCad
  • Electrical harness drawings in AutoCad
  • Electrical/electro-hydraulic parts sourcing, testing & evaluation
  • Component CAD drawings and checking
  • General electrical component sizing & design calculations
  • Circuit Loading
  • BOM Development

  • Systems Integration
  • Design of control systems with integrated mechanical, electro-hydraulic components interface
  • Internal and field testing of prototypes
  • Dynamometer test lab support

  • Prototype Assembly & Testing
  • Overseeing the assembly of prototype control systems
  • Internal and field testing of prototype systems
  • Report writing and documentation of testing results based on developed test plans

  • Product Support
  • Field commissioning both locally and internationally
  • Troubleshoot problems and breakdowns internally and in the field
  • Customer support of control system technical issues

  • Administrative
  • Manage multiple projects or tasks.
  • Communicate and coordinate with various internal departments.
  • Learn and follow company's engineering standards.
  • Learn and follow company corporate requirements.
  • Learn and utilize company's ERP/PLM systems.

    • C programming for embedded systems

    • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a college diploma in engineering technology is required
    • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (desirable)
    • 5+ years of experience in vehicle control system development and programming
    • 5+ years of experience with ERP system/s
    • 5+ years of experience with DFMA
