ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Model and analyze secondary airflow systems of gas turbine engines. Analyze existing systems and modifications to existing designs for improved durability, power output, efficiency, and other relevant criteria.
  • Evaluate component level flow curves, assembly leakages, cavity purge flows, and other relevant components of secondary airflow system.
  • Incorporate information into overall system model and run to convergence. Troubleshoot convergence issue and post process results.
  • Offer explanation and understanding of results, interaction between variables, and analytical trends.
  • Conduct 2D and 3D aerodynamics analysis of various existing designs and identify strength and weakness of previous designs with the goal of improving future designs.
  • Incorporate secondary air flow and components cooling flows into 3D CFD analysis for final design verification. Utilize appropriate design/analysis tools, such as flow circuit programs, FEM and CFD models.
  • Interface with other technical disciplines such as performance, heat transfer, and structural engineering to develop designs that meet all applicable criteria.
  • Use existing tools and develop new tools for analysis of component durability and cooling flows. Participate in continuous improvement and maintenance of PSM durability and aerodynamic design system.
