Job Summary:

The Materials Manger provides Leadership and oversight of Material Management and is responsible for the effective and successful management of purchasing, shipping, receiving, inventory and inventory levels and production scheduling using established guideline and procedures. Serve as a company representative on regulatory issues. Enhance the operational procedure, systems and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, enhanced management reporting and looks for opportunities to expand systems. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company's policies and applicable laws.

Job Duties:
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to the Materials staff.
  • Communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing job contributions.
  • Contribute supply chain information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends.
  • Forecast requirements; manage an annual, quarterly, or monthly budget; schedule expenditures; analyze variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Develop operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; develop, implement, enforce and evaluate policies and procedures; develop processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management and shipping.
  • Manage relationships with key operations vendors.
  • Oversee the tracking of vendor pricing, rebates and service levels.
  • Manage raw materials and finished goods inventory levels in accordance with meeting cash flow and liquidity goals.
  • Work closely with PM and Glastron team to set and/or implement policies, procedures and systems and to follow through with implementation.
  • Communicate all policies and/or issues at department meetings.
  • Participates in daily, weekly, monthly and annual planning process as appropriate.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster aid promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.


Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, supply chain, business management or equivalent and 8-10 years previous operations management experience, including forecasting, scheduling and real-time operations management is preferred.
  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Experience supervising, coaching and developing a large staff of direct reports is a must.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Comfortable with root cause and problem solving analytical methods.
  • Familiar with lean concepts such as kan ban, right size or single piece flow, pull systems and 5-s.
  • Customer/Client Focus.
  • Excellent project management, decision making and critical thinking skills, along with a superior attention to detail.
  • Excellent data processing and data entry skills.
  • Deadline oriented and works well under stress.
  • Good leadership, communication and conflict management skills.
  • Some business negotiation skills preferred but not required.
