Position Description
Responsible for all assembly operations for a Fire Truck assembly plant. A Continuous Improvement approach is necessary and accomplished with a hands-on engaged style when establishing and improving production processes on the shop floor. This position requires daily interaction with floor personal in a collaborative work environment with all levels of the organization. Position is accountable for all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost with the support of the senior leadership team. Direct Reports include 6 Supervisors. Current need is to increase production in response to increased orders from Seagrave's outstanding reputation in the marketplace!

Essential Job Functions
- Daily attention to schedule attainment, workflow and on time delivery.
- Responsible for assembly production goals, and monitoring team's attainment of KPI's.
- Formulate short and long-term strategy relative to cost reduction, quality improvement, capacity planning, and achievement of production ramp up goals in the Assembly area.
- Lead weekly Production scheduling process and attainment
- Oversee continuous improvement in Quality and Productivity by utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques and processes. Develop a daily Gemba walk / KPI review.
- Motivate and retain critical personnel to meet and exceed internal company goals as well as customer requirements and expectations
- Work closely with peers in Fabrication, Paint and Body, Purchasing and Material Control, Quality, and Engineering Departments.
- Establish management practices that foster a positive, safe work environment. As a key member of the safety team, participates in investigation of accidents, implementation of preventive measures and regular auditing of safety practices.
- Develop a high sense of priority for all issues related to safety within the operations team.
- Meet all regulatory requirements and support implementation of environmentally friendly practices.
- Perform internal audits to assure compliance to company and government policies. Support external auditors as needed.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations including OSHA and EPA standards, and all company policies.
- Establish shift production schedules that maximize direct labor utilization and talent.
- Enforcing plant rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities Required
- Large vehicle assembly experience is strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, influencing and mentoring skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with part scheduling and delivery to low volume / high mix vehicle production.
- Previously implemented lean manufacturing in a manufacturing operation.
- A track record of success in meeting objectives quickly and effectively. Proven record of consistently improving operational performance is required, especially in an assembly environment.
- Good written and oral skills for communication at all levels of the operation.
- Ability to build and develop a successful manufacturing team.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
Requirements
- Bachelors in engineering, Operations Management, related field or equivalent experience.
- Five years of leading Supervisors in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a high mix, low volume production environment.
- It is highly desirable to have experience in a Union shop.
