Job Summary:
This position will execute board strategy as defined by the Dean, manage activities for Kellogg's Advisory Boards serve as a key liaison for all active councils (on behalf of assigned administrative leaders and board members) and coordinate regularly with the Chief Communication Officer to provide leadership for all integrated communications to board and council stakeholders. The role will ensure that board and council missions are clearly defined and in alignment with Kellogg's strategic goals, as defined by the Dean and senior leadership resolutions. This position will also partner with board leaders, assigned administrators, including those specifically within Alumni Relations and Advancement, in the acquisition and maintenance of all board and council members with Dean approval, including oversight of stated dues collection. This position will produce and distribute regular metrics on board and council programming goals, budgets and progress against Kellogg strategies.

Specific Responsibilities :
Program Management (Global Advisory Board, Kellogg Councils, and Kellogg Alumni Councils)
- Act as a Senior Project Manager and partner cross-functionally with integral senior administrators to ensure close collaboration between Advancement, Alumni Relations, Communications, the Dean's Office and the Senior Leadership Team, in service of seamless board, council and committee operations. Manage a matrixed support system for all programs to leverage each department's/constituent's strengths and create the infrastructure for institutional strategy and objectives related to boards, councils and committees.
- Serve as an in-house expert/advisor on all board and committee-related issues, providing vital, up-to-date information and recommendations to senior leadership, including the Dean, while navigating internal and external political landscapes (including sensitive handling of confidential information).
- Responsible for the maintenance and support of the Global Advisory Board and subcommittees and related taskforces including acting as an advisor to the Dean and the senior leadership team in the development of strategic meeting workflows.
- Manage, execute and track board strategy for Kellogg Global Advisory Board and Kellogg Alumni Councils.
- Track and report strategy for other department/strategic initiative related councils (Real Estate, Corporate Executive Women and Asset Management Practicum).
- Evaluate board and council progress based on established objectives, documented outcomes and mission.
- Manage relationships via thorough and complex project plan with board and committee members, which includes clearly communicating updates from Kellogg, providing support for board issues and challenges
- Establish process for, manage and track board and council member activity within and outside of Kellogg. Coordinate regularly with Kellogg leadership, Impact & Practice, Advancement and Alumni to ensure accurate updates.
- Function as the primary contact Global Advisory Board and Alumni Councils.
- Identify and implement short- and long-term strategies and plans to meet program goals. Analyze the strengths, weaknesses, missions and life cycles of all boards and committee to develop a big picture understanding, from which to make informed recommendations.
- Formally identify, implement and ensure compliance with basic protocol for board governance throughout Kellogg.
- Establish, manage and track all board governance protocols such as term limits, reporting requirements, mission, committee assignments and alignment with Kellogg strategic goals.
- Set vision and provide leadership for expected outcomes of all board and council activities
- Manage assigned administrators responsible for all logistics related to board, council and committee meeting preparation and execution to ensure meeting effectiveness through proper event planning, including but not limited to materials, scheduling, invitations, agendas and post-meeting follow-up.
- Organize and maintain all administrative support related to correspondence, contact information, meeting scheduling, travel logistics and any other topic related to board membership support.
- Manage implementation and ongoing relationship with software vendor for board documentation and communication.
- Communicate with and train board and committee members on the software and be attentive to upgrades.
- Negotiate contract renewals and manage expectations with the vendor.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8-9 years' business/industry experience.
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
- Knowledge of multiple industries and job functions.
- Knowledge of board governance protocols and best practice activities.
- Ability to work across various functions of an organization.
- Comfortable and effective in working with senior management of major corporations.
- Prior management and leadership experience.
- Strong team player and collaborator.
- Strong problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to formulate realistic plans and contingencies and establish appropriate measurements of anticipated results.
- Strong written and oral presentation skills.
- MBA or Master's degree is preferred.
- Experience in building a new organization/function is preferred.
- Comfortable and effective in working with senior management of major corporations.
- Proven success as a strong collaborator with faculty and staff.
