Description:
As part of the Systems Architecture and Integration department, the Systems Architect is responsible for the requirements and architecture development of aircraft landing gear and braking systems (ATA32).
As a Systems Architect on a development program, you will define and coordinate a comprehensive system development logic in line with Safran's Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) framework. Adopting an overall view of the system throughout its lifecycle, you will ensure that the solution achieves an optimal balance between system requirements, lead times, costs and risks, and that the proposed system architectures are technically robust and meet the customer needs.
You will interface with the Program Chief Engineer as a deputy on Systems Engineering activities, and as a technical leader for the Systems Engineering teams across Safran Landing Systems business units over the entire ATA32 lifecycle.
Ensure the consolidation of requirements through system specification:
- identification of all interfaces and stakeholders concerned by the design, production,
integration,
maintainability and use of the system
- definition of the system's "mission" and specifications, based on the needs expressed by the
stakeholders
(customer, etc.) and the requirements imposed by its environment
- evaluation of the relative weighting, completeness and sensitivity of requirements, as well as
the influence and effects of the environment
Travel specifictity
Daily word processing or computer work and changing priorities.
Ability to occasionnally travel internationally.
Additional description
Engineering duties will span the entire product lifecycle, from initial design and requirements
capture through manufacture, system testing, and system sustainment. While working in a
cross-functional team environment, tasks will include:
Requirements development and management
Conceptual studies of electro-mechanical architectures
System/Mechanical design, multiphysics modeling, analysis, and review
System performance assessments and trade studies
System Robustness Evaluation
Verification/Validation/Test planning, development, and execution
Customer interface, coordination
Cascading overall system requirements into subsystem level requirements, based on
functional and dysfunctional analyses with the support of the entire systems team, including
RAMS (reliability, availability, maintainability, safety) aspects
Ensure that systems engineering tasks are included in the development approach
--propose the product breakdown structure (PBS) and integration of subsystems
--advise on subsequent system development/upgrades throughout the entire lifecycle,
systematically conducting impact analysis, and propose solutions to the PCE & relevant
functions involved.
. Manage and lead the process for rolling out the portfolio of shared methods and tools on the
allocated project
. Support the Definition and integration (ATA 32) of generic architectures by family of products
based on SLS experiences of development, production and services
Candidate skills & requirements
Skills & core competencies:
Experience with system architecture development using models (MBSE)
Experience in control systems, integrated system/interface design
Experience with requirement management, System integration and verification
Design-to-cost or design-to-value techniques
Understanding of customer relations
Technical knowledge of landing gears products and related systems
Expertise in development methodologies
Experience with system testing, data acquisition, verification, and validation
Project management/development, continuous improvement, quality assurance, system processes, and environmental qualification
Significant experience in aerospace development processes ARP4754A, ARP4761,DO-178, DO254, DO160...)
Understanding and ability to apply RAMS concepts; knowledge of basic cyber-security concepts is an asset
Communication skills:
- Initiative and autonomy; strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
- Excellent English, written, oral communication and presentation skills; French is an asset
- Ability to lead a cross-functional team across multiple business units, sites and countries
- Ability to drive change and deploy innovative work practices within an organization
- Strong customer-focused culture
