The Nido R. Qubein School of Communication at High Point University is searching for a new colleague to teach in Advertising, Public Relations, and Strategic Communication program and the Social Media and Digital Communication program. The successful candidate will have at least 15 years of professional experience in advertising, public relations, or social media. A master's degree or PhD in strategic communication or business is required.
The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate courses, such as Foundations of Strategic Communication, Case Studies, PR Writing, Social Media & Analytics, and Campaigns. Depending on qualifications, there will be an opportunity to add more specialized courses to the curriculum or teach in our innovative, new graduate program in Communication and Business Leadership. The regular teaching load at HPU is three, four-credit-hour courses per semester on a 9-month contract with the opportunity for summer teaching. In addition, the successful candidate will have additional administrative responsibilities such as academic advising.
Please note: This position is for a role in strategic communication (advertising, public relations, social media) as opposed to communication studies. Only those with education and experience in strategic communication will be considered.

Essential Qualifications:

- A commitment to quality teaching, professional growth, and university service
- 15 years of strategic communication industry experience
- University-level teaching experience is preferred but not required
Education:
- A master's degree in communication or business with extensive professional experience (15+ years) in strategic communication (advertising, public relations, social media)
- A Ph.D. in communication, business, or a related strategic communication field is preferred in addition to 15 years of industry experience
Essential Functions:
- Collaborates with colleagues across campus for curriculum design and delivery
- Provides mentorship and advisement for students
- Communicates teaching and researches activities through frequent and effective communication with the department chair
- Maintains professional development program or active research
- Acts as a representative and advocate for the program, school, and the university
- Actively participates in committees within the department, school, and university in professional and governmental organizations
- Undertakes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the department chair
