Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Exempt)
Under clinical supervision of aphysician and direct supervision of the Manager/Director, the PhysicianAssistant provides general medical care, treatment and health care services topatients within the scope of their licensure and expertise level of thesupervising physician.
Essential Job Functions
Supports and models behaviorsconsistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic anddepartment/service.
Examines patients and performscomprehensive physical examination, compiles patient medical data includinghealth history and results of physical examination.
Administers or orders diagnostictests, such as x-ray, laboratory, and other ancillary services as appropriateand differentiates between normal and abnormal information contained in thetest results. (Patient Care, Testing Diagnostic Tests)
Performs therapeutic procedures,such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care and managing infectionswithin the scope of their licensure and the expertise level of the supervisingphysician. (Patient Care, Procedures, Midlevel Scope of Practice)
Formulates diagnosis of medicalproblem, develops, implements and monitors patient care plans, records progressnotes and assists in the provision of continuity of care; conferring with thesupervising physician as necessary and/or appropriate. (Patient Care, Treatmentplan, Patient Care Plan)
Instructs and counsels patientsand families regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.(Education, Patient, Educates Patient)
Refers patients to other healthcare providers and appropriate sources of care as necessary.
Participates in on-callrotations and off hour rounding as it pertains to the specific department.(working condition)
Identifies needs and sets goalsfor own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational anddepartmental requirements; acquires knowledge and skills essential toincorporating into practice proven new evaluation/treatment modalities.
Utilizes performance improvementprinciples to assess and improve quality; participates in the continued programdevelopment and marketing of service line.
Maintains competency in allorganizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee orpatient safety standards relevant to job performance.
Performs other duties asassigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Graduate Degree from accreditedPhysician Assistant program / Nurse Practitioners' program
Certifications and Licenses
Current National Commission onCertification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) Board Certification/License asPhysician Assistant
Approved to practice as aphysician assistant in Montana or Wyoming by Board of Medical Examiners
Healthcare Provider CPRCertification; additional CPR certifications may be required depending on thepatient population and/or service area
