Description:

An Interior Designer/Architect II, FF&E Specialist provides design guidance, management, and oversight of FF&E throughout all project phases and generates all FF&E concepts for interiors, including full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating FF&E elements. The IDII plans and designs interior aspects of multiple large scale projects and provides subject matter expertise on space planning, FF&E, and material components of interior design. The IDII/IAII is familiar with what is required to be completed in all project phases, including construction documents. This role is introduced to construction administration and the various responsibilities during the phase.

  • Lead in-house learning seminars to advance firm-wide technical knowledge

  • Supervise and ensure the maintenance of materials within the Interiors Materials Library
  • Complete tasks with accuracy, precision, and attention to detail
  • Be a clear written and verbal communicator with strong presentation skills

Core Responsibilities

Project Design & Planning
  • Understand the MA "Project Road Map" as well as the project schedule and pertinent deadlines
  • Participate in project design and development from concept through documentation
  • Generate and/or oversee the development of the FF&E design concept based on the interior design
  • Lead point person for ongoing design collaboration and coordination with MA's sister company specializing in FF&E design
  • Highly skilled at producing complex furniture layouts across various interior programs
  • Assist in the preparation of client design presentations (selecting conceptual images, generating 3D views, rendered elevations, material, and FF&E selections). Able to put together client presentation templates based on the meeting agenda
  • Understand project scope and required deliverables
  • Develop FF&E package and material selections
  • Correspond with vendors regarding finishes, FF&E specifications, and pricing
  • Implement design direction based on leadership feedback

Project Administration
  • Team Meetings
  • Help to identify agenda items for coordination and client meetings; attend when appropriate
  • Draft meeting minutes for PA/PM review
  • Internal Management
  • Provide guidance to less experienced colleagues as needed
  • Assist in the development of the interior work plan; monitor adherence to budget and schedule
  • Consultant Management
  • Coordinate activities with all consultants as appropriate
  • Contractor Management
  • Be the secondary point of contact for RFIs, submittals, and correspondence

Project Documentation
  • Assist in the production of FF&E design development and construction documentation with moderate oversight on larger projects and minimal oversight on smaller projects
  • Able to solely develop schedules for interior finishes, appliances, plumbing fixtures, and door hardware
  • Support review and coordination of consultant sets
  • Assist in the preparation of specifications
  • Consistently redline and review work for accuracy

Quality Control
  • Comply with MA Presentation Standards and Project Checklists
  • Develop and maintain office standards for FF&E design and documentation
  • Review all FF&E packages and internal documentation for accuracy and design intent before being issued
  • Working knowledge of building codes and ADA requirements and knowing where they are required
  • Have a familiarity with the BIM execution plan
  • Archive project emails and maintain standard server file organization
  • Self-check own work

Construction Administration
  • Attend site meetings as an observer as directed
  • Liaise with Purchasing Agent as needed
  • Prepare surveys of existing conditions
  • Aid with the review of shop drawings and approvals
  • Maintain proper Field Reports, RFI Logs, and Submittal Logs
  • Assist with review of RFIs and Submittals
  • Assist PM/PA in the preparation of a Punch List

Qualifications

Education:

Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture
or Interior Design

IAII: Architecture License Required

Other accreditations preferred but not required (NCIDQ, AIA, LEED)

Experience

6+ years of related experience

Skills:

Proficient in 3D modeling using software such as Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, and SketchUp; Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign); Enscape, Procore, MS Office, and Bluebeam
