Reporting to the Project Manager, the responsibilities of the Environmental Project Coordinator/Manager include:

  • Ensure the Environmental Plan is adhered to across the project in accordance with contractual requirements and internal policies;
  • Participate in the monitoring of environmental aspects, including wildlife, excavated materials, impacted materials, waste management, erosion and sediment control, dust control, marine management, spill prevention and response, and sustainability objectives;
  • Participate in managing environmental issues during pre-construction, procurement, and delivery phases of the project, in accordance with contractual requirements, reporting, permitting, and licensing, as required;
  • Perform field inspections, surveys, samplings, audits, etc., of project, specifically on activities with environmental impact, and assure activities, conditions, and outcomes correspond with the requirements of applicable laws and standards, contracts, Environmental Plan, and internal policies;
  • Provide advice on construction activities as it relates to environmental compliance matters, as well as recommendations for improving environmental protection on the site;
  • Prepare daily/weekly reports as related to construction activities, compliance, and audits;
  • Participate in site meetings;
  • Assist in carrying out a variety of field duties at the job site related to project.


Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering program or similar, or a combination of technical training and/or related experience;
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in an environmental capacity;
  • Experience in contracting industry (heavy civil preferred);
  • Knowledge of methods, approaches, and best practices related to environmental inspections and audits;
  • Experience with scheduling and planning site activities;
  • Excellent command of computer software including Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, BlueBeam, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Bilingual (an asset), but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required.
