The Application Scientist will provide support and guidance to Heath and its customers on Methane emissions and related activities based on scientific methods. They will help customers minimize methane emissions from oil and natural gas infrastructure using Heath manufactured or distributed products and software applications. The candidate will also play a leading role in data collection in the field using instruments to measure Ch4 and other related gases and provide analysis. This role will also be a key consultant to software and hardware product management and development teams to help define requirements in accordance with methane measurement protocols and help validate them in the field. They will also provide support to Marketing, Sales, Service team & end users on technical queries.
PLEASE NOTE: This position is based out of an office and normally takes place in the Engineering department at Heath's corporate HQ in Houston, TX. Other locations consist of customer or research organization sites, including outdoor locations related to the gas and utilities infrastructure. Candidates MUST be local to the Houston, TX area to be considered.

Travel: This role requires the ability to travel about 30% of the time
SALARY: $90,000 - $115,000

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Using Heath supported products and software, provides guidance, procedures, and test protocols to various internal and external customers to reduce methane emissions.
- Conducts field experiments, participates in data analysis, develops procedures, protocols, and writes papers on Methane emissions.
- Summarizes data and provides reports in accordance with measurement protocols and sound scientific methods, and helps customers comply with Methane regulations.
- Works with Heath Hardware and Software Product development teams in defining requirements that are in line with regulations, test protocols and other best practices.
- Helps develop verification and validation procedures for new products and software applications.
- Provides support in developing data analytics algorithms and techniques using understanding of fluid dynamics, atmospheric sciences, and statistics.
- Partners with research institutions coordinating data collection and their analysis, strengthening the knowledge, and understanding of methane emissions from oil & gas infrastructure and finding opportunities for methane mitigation.
- Has a strong understanding of methane, carbon management, and environmental monitoring with a keen interest and understanding of regulatory framework.
- Provides Technical support to Marketing, Sales, Users and Customers on use of products and software for leak detection and methane emissions applications.
- Attends training as required, develop skills and knowledge keeping up to date with latest advancements in technology and policy changes.
- Performs any additional related duties as requested by Management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- MUST HAVE a Master's or PhD in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics or similar with emphasis on Fluid dynamics, Atmospheric Science or Environmental Science
- At least 2 years of experience in Methane emissions related role
- Strong background with demonstrated experience conducting fieldwork, including air quality and/or emissions sampling.
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modeling, and the use of relevant software tools and programming languages (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB).
- Knowledge of Methane emission policies, regulations, and measurement frameworks such as OGMP 2.0, Veritas etc. at state, national and international levels is expected.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate scientific concepts and research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent project management skills, with ability to plan and execute field experiments and their reports and papers within specified timeframes.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
