Assistant Director of Nutrition Services


Start Date: July 1, 2024
Days/Hours: 260 days/ 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Banded/Graded: C-4-2
Salary: $90,589
Responsible to: Director of Nutrition Services

Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Nutrition Services will assist the Director of Nutrition Services in developing and accomplishing department goals and objectives. The Assistant Director of Nutrition Services will provide direction, support and supervision for Cook Managers and their staff in the execution of meal production, outstanding customer service, ordering and inventory of food and beverage items, and building level marketing initiatives. They will also take the lead in menu development, meal accommodations, standardized recipes and nutrient analysis, all in compliance with State and Federal regulations.

Qualifications:
Training Requirements:
  • Level 4 certification with the Minnesota School Nutrition Association within the first 12 months of employment
  • Maintain CEUs required by the United States Department of Agriculture for a Director level position
  • Attend workshops, meetings, and conferences
Education/Certification:
  • 4 year degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
  • Must have or obtain certification as a Food Protection Manager within the first 12 months
Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of three years full-time work experience in school food service or in a related food service operation preferred.
  • Experience coordinating culinary food operations with a staff of in food preparation that includes:
    • Plan, organize, schedule and direct the work of others
    • Maintain control costs
    • Assign and review work
    • Advise and coach staff on difficult work problems
    • Teach, train and develop staff
  • Work experience in high volume, high speed quality food production and catering
  • Computer skills including but not limited to 3+ years of experience using point of sale (POS) systems and spreadsheets
  • Member of School Nutrition Association (SNA)
