Description:
The Respiratory Therapy Supervisor is responsible for the coordination of inpatient/outpatient clinical activities of the Respiratory Therapy Department. Additional responsibilities are required, such as providing supervisory direction to staff Respiratory Therapists during daily operations, initial/ongoing education of staff, clinical informatics and systems superuser, maintaining proficiency with all respiratory and blood gas lab modalities and equipment, communicating with other members of the interprofessional care team, and documenting/billing for services in the electronic medical record.
Provides clinical support (patient care) as needed as a Respiratory Therapist by performing diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice and in accordance with physician orders, policies, and protocols. Serves as an ambassador for the department as well as the Center by demonstrating exceptional customer service skills.
The Respiratory Therapy Department at Moffitt Cancer Center specializes in the treatment of patients with a wide variety of diagnoses that also have related pulmonary diagnoses. Under the department's scope of practice, we have responsibilities to evaluate and implement patient care modalities in critical care, floor care and urgent care areas. The Respiratory Therapy Department provides ventilator care, bronchodilator and other aerosolized therapy, blood gas collection and analysis and responds to medical emergencies throughout the facility among various other duties. We are a vital part of the healthcare team; in both our 200 plus bed Magnolia Campus as well as our soon to be opened 128 bed McKinley Campus; providing support for disease management, ventilator and airway management and patient education. We administer Respiratory Therapy Services upon the order of providers and within the scope of the policies, procedures and protocols established by the organization.

Bachelor's degree
field of studfy: CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
Licensure:
Minimum Required:
Preferred:
1 year of experience in leadership roles (Charge/Team Lead or Supervisor/Coordinator). 2 years of experience in oncology.
Preferred:
Experience with coordination and facilitation of hospital-wide education programs. Experience with regulatory requirements of Blood Gas Laboratory (CAP). Experience with orientation/onboarding of new team members.
Experience with creation of department staffing/scheduling.

- BLS
- AARC Member
- RRT
Minimum Required:
- 5 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.
- 2 years of clinical experience in critical care.
- 6 months of experience in leadership roles (Charge/Team Lead or Supervisor/Coordinator).
Preferred:
1 year of experience in leadership roles (Charge/Team Lead or Supervisor/Coordinator). 2 years of experience in oncology.
